You probably have a great number of native plants to forage then.  You just have to learn about what's available to you.

I used to gather dewberries (wild blackberries) and agarita berries.  Plants that were available were prickly pear cactus, aloe vera, acorns, elms, pecans for food and medicinal purposes.  Other places I've lived had pines for teas and pine nuts.  You can even make your own root beer from birch and mallow.  North central and coastal states have wild rices.  Wild apple and pear trees grow in many areas.  There is so much bounty.  And it's fun to explore and gather while enjoying fresh air and the sounds of nature.

Apples were tricky in the mountains where I lived many years ago. Why? We had competition: bears. They loved those apples! :kanoso:

Time to gather some apples.

Step 1: Choose apple trees at lower altitudes.

Step 2: Observe the area for a while before doing the deed.

Step 3: Examine those apple trees top to bottom.

Step 4: Spot a bear? If yes, move to a different stand of apple trees.

Step 5: Spot a bear with cubs? Leave the area immediately.

Step 6: Go and check piñon pine trees for those lovely piñon nuts.

I won't get sick from eating  McD offerings.

I never eat their stuff. If I am going to get sick I'll do  it on Boars Head meat offerings at Publix's or Ingle's deli counters.

When eating out . . . ALWAYS pray over your food . . . you never know what happened in the back room . . . .

Hi Ray,

And even when eating it alone while in my prayer closet eh? !

Is there a "rule" against eating in a prayer closet? Feeding on more than the word of God? Sustenance  for the body.

Don't you have to admit that is a bit of an oxymoron? As to the fastest of food, I throw my opinion in with a vote for Chik-Fil-A.

I timed my last visit there at a nearly impossible speed of two minutes even! There were two lines of cars and trucks,  8 in each line ahead of me yet my order was taken, all those ahead served their food,  and I was handed mine and on my way -in two minutes. And yes the food  was really really good.

Guess if one eats only fast food they will have to fast on Sunday if they chose only Chik Fil A

My personal  preference is to live in the"city", have some 700+ plus stores in near walking distance, and oh so many choices of what to do  regarding food, at most anytime of day. Now choosing to  be just calling in orders to Fresh Market as my favorite food choice.

And the water, wow!, endlessly coming from the city water storage tanks to be further purified at my home and some to be frozen for use anytime. Ah it's the city life for me, hi ho hi ho.

I have tried Chick-fil-A and I didn't like it. There has been a lot of water recalls where I live because of forever chemicals in the water. I have filled up a tub with the water before and it smells like a swimming pool. It can't be good to have that much chlorine in the water. Why would they need to put that much chlorine in the water if it is good? That is why I use bottled reverse osmosis water to drink and cook with.

Interesting, guess there is always one, nobody doesn't like Chik Fil A . They now have a breakfast line of offerings with sausage and eggs! Kind of funny , guess since Mc D has added chicken  Chik Fil A  responded by adding egg and sausage in biscuits for breakfast.

We also have a problem with city  water chlorine or similar additives and so we use a water softener and  filter system.  We also buy purified by reverse osmosis water for drinking. That cost sure adds up!

Again hope your well company finds the issue and resolves it without throwing parts at it endlessly.

They're pretty popular with folks at work. As for me, I'm a "make my lunch at home and bring it work" sort. More economical and better for what ails me.

KY has an fast food outlet called Biscuit World and MAN O MAN are they good for breakfast! There is always a line around the corner in mornings to get their biscuit bacon or sausage & egg sandwich. Its huge and the biscuits are large and flaky. They have some kind of sauce on it that is sooooo . . . good . . . . . .

I wish they would come up north to MI, but, alas MI businesses are taxed beyond belief . . . . so that probably won't happen . . . .

I bet it is! I brown bagged it in my earlier years, if I even got time to eat lunch,  then  a little later on I "der wienerschnitzael"-ed it. Imagine five chili dogs for one dollar! Um Um, and healthy too.

Then came the good times with the county club company membership card and 2 pm "lunches" of pretty fine offerings with beverages. Eventually becoming  an innkeeper with restaurant and lounge kinda did me in. Worked long long hours with only food, beverage, and cigarette breaks for moments of rest.

Nowadays I am trying to get to where I eat but one meal a day. So far that  is a failure for the meal runs all day long, LOL.

Seriously, so far I have lost 27 pounds; but am afraid I will bump into it again. Need to work at much longer walks with the "puppy". Thing is he has gotten a bit content with short strolls and is not so much  for longer marches anymore. Guess neither am I.

Oh well we don't take these corruptible and corrupted bodies with us, eh!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
