The book of Enoch.

I have not read it yet but have heard it has very good historical information in it.  Just because it isn't part of the canon of the Bible doesn't mean that it isn't useful for learning.

Just as a side note, the Catholic bible has some books that are not in the Protestant bible.

The book of Enoch was found with the Dead Sea Scrolls

The book appears to be a well known book in OT times.

Just because it's not in the Cannon Bible does not mean we can not read or enjoy it's content.   I found the scenes of heaven and the description of worship in the book very moving.  I would encourage people to read it.

 

 

The bottom line is God has only guaranteed truth to be of His Word 'The Scripture'
John 17:17 (KJV)

[17] Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

2 Timothy 3:15 (KJV)

[15] And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

[16] All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

[17] That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

So, for all else it is an easy discipline to allow only Scripture to form my mind and heart toward the things of God...

It is not part of the canon...but just like any book it can lend insight or help in our journey to understand and know our creator. I am sure we all read and use bible aids like:  commentaries, various Bible translations, concordances, and have our favorite authors.

For me, C.S. Lewis is at the top of the list.  He is not scripture, but I appreciate his insights and thoughts as do I with others, even the book of Enoch.
