I took down my Christmas tree, ornaments and all decorations and decided to follow scripture below.

Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,

This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Matthew 15:7-9

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24

must worship him, not should, but must

In spirit and in truth, not in christmas spirit, nor holiday spirit.

In truth not the christmas lie most have believed.

Please do history on all the holidays and you will find that those who celebrate them are guilty by association.

christmas worship is not a commandment of GOD, it is a commandment of men. Do the research and prove me wrong.

Jesus himself said prove all things and hold fast to what is good.

with love,

merricat

wow, that sounds rather judgemental of you, perhaps you should look up scriptures on that issue. i see you took down your tree on christmas, so you presumably had one up... nice that you had a change of heart, and do as you feel convicted, but if you had a tree up for christmas that you took down, the post you made also sounds slightly like hypocrisy.

celebrating christmas is not a commandment of man. it may be a man made celebration, but it is a day when we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour. besides, you will never convince me that God wants us to walk around looking like we've been sucking green persimmons. scripture says that we are to rejoice in each day because the Lord has made it. scripture says to make a joyful noise. scripture says in all things give thanks. scripture ALSO says it is better to give than to recieve.

if we as christians put up a tree and nativity scenes and lights, and do not forget who the day is about, and remember to give thanks and rejoice in Him, i fail to see where we're displeasing him. when and if we ever feel convicted by the Holy Spirit to quit celebrating, and we ignore His conviction, then yes, we would be sinning. so if you feel convicted, then by all means, heed and obey. but don't presume that just because you have been called to quit celebrating that the rest of us should obey the command given to YOU... know what i mean?

You know what's funny? Nowhere in scripture do I find the teaching that rejoicing about Christ's birth is sinful...nor that rejoicing itself is. Or, for that matter, that holidays are evil. Keeping a holiday is not a commandment, of man or otherwise, by the way...rather, it's a time when we willingly, happily, tend to celebrate Christ's birth. Of course, there are those that don't know the true meaning of Christmas...but I guess that means we gotta spread the word a little more.

You CAN worship in spirit and in truth while celebrating Christmas...in fact, there's a LOT of worshipping of God going on throughout Christmas among believers. How is singing "Gloria, in excelsis Deo!" NOT good? Honestly, I just can't see how saying "glory to God in the Highest!" could be bad! Personally, I'll hold fast to what is good, and that's one of the many ways I do it during the Christmas season.

*sigh* When did Christianity become a religion of finding the worst in everything?

Your Dad is an optimist. That's great.

Okay, all day long people have been asking how our Christmas was. All day long my dad said "We had a wonderful Christmas".

After hearing dad say it was wonderful all day, I asked him what was soo wonderful about it. My nephew ended up in emergency room after he crashed a dirt bike he opened 30 minutes earlier. We spent 6 hours in the hospital after my grampa had a stoke on Christmas.

16 of us said our final good byes to grampa thinking this was it for real.

Tears and grief. Prayying with grampa etc.

Yeah, dad what was so wonderful?

He calmly smiled and said "The family was together and noone died, That is a wonderful Christmas"

Well, ya can't beat his logic.

Man, I love my daddy.

Our oldest son and his wife were away for the weekend visiting her parents near the SC beach, our middle son and his wife and our three grandchildren traveled 500 miles to Ohio to visit the great-grandparents, our youngest son is in Iraq, and his wife was visiting with her parents part of Christmas Eve & Christmas Day and part of those days with us and our daughter and her newly acquired fiance (on Christmas Day), who spent half of Christmas traveling to the mountains where he proposed to her, part of the day with his family and the rest of it with us.

So we were kind of alone (without our kids) on Christmas Day up until about 7 p.m. when our daughter, her fiance and our daughter-in-law showed up to eat dinner with us and spend the evening. For lunch and the afternoon, we went to the home of the parents of the daughter-in-law who traveled to Ohio with our son and grandchildren, since the parents were left alone, too. So, we visited with relatives of relatives and with our daughter and future son-in-law and daughter-in-law on Christmas Day. All in all it was a good day, but we really missed all three of our sons, two of their wives and all three of our granddaughters. But, they all live here in town, minus our son who is in Iraq, so we'll have time with them this weekend.

New Year's Eve is my 56th birthday! I was born December 31, 1949 at 6:10 p.m., so just a few hours short of 1950. So, when the world turned 2000 A.D., I turned 50 just a few hours before. I thought it was cool! I always know what age I was in what year, because the math is so easy - 1965 (15), 1982 (32), etc. As long as I can add anything to 50, I'm ok.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
