Question about Son's Dream

My son, 18, felt called to be an evangelist when he was 16. He is about to start his Sophomore year of college in a few weeks. (graduated H.S. a year early). Since he felt called, he has gotten sidetracked a little - mostly with a girlfriend. He isn't doing drugs or anything of that sort, still lives at home, is obedient, polite, considerate, and has always been what you'd call 'a good kid'. But, he's not reading his Bible as much, and hasn't been thinking too much about where to go to finish his college after this coming year is over. He says he still feels called to be an evangelist.

Anyway, he had a dream about a week ago. First thing when he got up, he's saying "Mom, I had a weird dream last night!" He said that he was preaching to people, in a pickup. Like they were sitting in it, and he was talking with them. Maybe sort of like people his age, and ones that looked like they were really in the world. He's not here at the moment, or I'd be sure on that part of the detail. Then, he said that everything went black, and he couldn't hear anything at all (still the dream). Then he hears a very low, quiet humming or buzzing sound. Sort of like electricity or something is the way he described it. All he can see is blackness, then the humming sound fades and he hears a voice say to him, "This is your destiny". Then he wakes up. He said the voice was really strange sounding. (What exactly that means, I do not know, lol). And, he also said the voice was not loud, but soft.

Question is, could this have been from God? It came out of the blue, so to speak. He wasn't talking about evangelism the evening before or anything, just doing his regular stuff. I told him it may have been a nudge from God, for him to get back on track. What do you think?

He was pretty startled by it that morning. I believe he thinks it may have been from God. That's how he acted about it. He was asking me what I thought also, but it did get his attention.

Calamity, it could have been anything. But, it might have been from God. Don't

know for sure. So, like Trav asked, what does he think about his dream? Does

he believe it's prophetic, or just a silly dream we all have?

If the dream "got his attention" then he needs to be in prayer about it. I certainly don't presume to understand things, but I do know that God sent me a few dreams, and when it's from God, you know. If it is then he will come to know what it means, if he doesn't already. I think sometimes it's a communication to our inner man, and the inner man understands.

C4C, I think, but am not sure, that he felt it may have been from God. I guess the only thing that worries me about what he described would be the humming or buzzing sound. The reason that concerns me is because I've read many, many accounts of where the New Age, or other people, have talked about a low, humming noise like that, before they would see a manifestation, or something would happen. That part concerns me.

I have never had a dream that has caught my attention...yet. But, praying to

ask the Lord if it was from Him is the best thing to do.

trav, or anyone else, do you know what I'm talking about with the humming/buzzing noise? I did not mention this to my son.

Well, a dream telling him he's called to preach to the unsaved being from Satan? No, doesn't make sense. From "his own imagination?" Doubtful.

I'll say this. I've had a couple dreams I can definantly say were messages from God. I've had a few that fit into the "seems like" category. One of those dreams also involved a black-out moment for me (I won't go into details, but I've come to consider it was because I didn't need to see what was transpiring in that bit). I didn't have a buzzing noise in any dreams - other than when my alarm went off - lol! But I did have one dream where God stepped in, and there was sort-of a transition when that occured. His voice, I could only describe as powerful but gentle.

My evaluation, based on what I know and have experienced, is that this was a message from God. I mean, if he's been called to evangelize and has been side-tracked, why would God not send him a dream to call him back, get his focus on track? The black-out could be symbolic of his having lost track of his mission. Or it could be suggesting there is more to come beyond what he saw, but it is being kept hidden from him for the time being (some prophecies in the Bible are like that), until he is ready for it. I've thought of other things, but I'm not sure about saying them, as they are speculations.

Remember when the Lord called Samuel? When Eli finally figured out it was the Lord calling him, he instructed Samuel to say, "Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening?" This may be the best thing you can do, encouraging him to submit himself to the Lord (and nio matter what you think of the dream, you ain't steering im wrong with that one!)
