But why does it have to be one thing such as the EU?

It seems to me a more likely scenario would be an international confederation, a New World Order, which would include the UN, EU, WTO, IMF, US, NATO. etc, all supporting international corporations and a borderless government. The key will be to bring down any idea of a unique nation-state, to also paint in a bad light anyone who would be considered a patriot for their own country. Look how the idea of "nationalism" is considered somehow a bad word now, kind of evil. So around the globe if anyone says they are sticking up for their unique people in their unique country they are deemed dangerous.

As far as the EU being atheistic or secular indeed that is true. But if we were going to do that sort of analysis we would have to look at our own country. The US, which although often professing Christianity certainly would be considered one of the wicked countries in the world in our private behavior and morality. I mean it stinks, but compare rates of abortion, divorce, murder, theft, drug use, to name only a few between the EU and the US, and we don't fare very well at all. I don't know if that is prophetic in anyway, but it seems to me that the anti-Christ would rise from a very wicked place and make what is bad to be considered good, a total inversion.

But I have no idea about that, except that everyone will love this guy. I think a likely scenario is that he will come across as a sort of global citizen.

I agree with you Smalcald and share in your opinions everything right now seems to be working towards a borderless government that seeks to tare down any ideas of nationalism and patritism. These have to be torn down in order to create the revised Roman Empire in the which I believe the EU is playing it's part at this time and interval in history.

All nations of the earth even the US is moving towards the New World Order or the One World Government and as time progresses in our history it just keeps getting closer and closer to the final fulfillment of what God has foretold to us in his word. And as the days continue we will continue to see more and more of the things foretold in the bible being played out right before our eyes being fulfilled little by little as we continue to advance forward in time. The signs are all around us and those who know the word of God can see and discern the times in which we live.

As for the anti-christ having no interest in women, that doesn't mean he would be celebate - in this day and age he may we be openly gay! Or even could be a WOMAN anti-christ (unless it specifically says that he is a man - I can't remember right now)

It says "HE"will cause all to worship him..so it will be a man.As for why i say celebate is because the prophet Daniel wrote that the Antichrist "does not regard the desire of women."--this may imply that he's either celibate or homosexual--that he will have a "fierce countenance" or stern look, that he will be "more stout than his fellows"-more proud and boastful, and that he "understands dark sentences", refering to his possessing supernatural powers!

The EU has a large amount of member nations and growing.They also have a drawn up constitution that more or less ignores the rights of Christians.

I came across an article in a magazine today suggesting that the European Union is a "revived soviet union". It gave as the reasons the "obliteration of the original states" and reminded us that the old Soviet Union had "collapsed in a shambles", and suggested that that is what will soon happen to the EU.

The article also drew parallels between the EU and the revived Roman Empire that had been profesied in the Bible. It pointed out that all that is now needed is the creation of a permanent executive branch of government and everybody's adoption of the new "euro" monetary unit.

I said before that I thought that the creation of the EU was an evil and it is my contention that the anti-Christ will arise out of the "new" Europe.

There are so many "coincidences" here. I am amazed that people just can't/won't see it.

Yes, the EU is the revived Roman Empire identified as the 10 horns on the beast that will destroy America. Of course, we will retaliate and some what cripple them. That will leave both Russia and China free of opposition to move against Israel and the Middle East.
