i'm new here so if i'm asking a question that has already been answered... sorry!!!!

it seems like this has been brought up a lot lately for me. for the past couple of days i have been getting a lot of questions about creationism vs evolution and how they work together. my own husband asked me yesterday where cavemen came into the picture if i believed in creation. i'm just very curious about what other people think about all that. do you believe that the earth was litterally created in six days? how is all this compatable with what science "knows" about the creation of earth and evolution? just curious. thanks.

You can find an invaluable resource here with regard to your questions.

On a more personal note, I believe God is true to his word, I believe the Genesis account is literal not figurative....6 repetitions of the same definition of a 24 hour day are, to my mind pretty compelling. God also instructs us in exodus to work for 6 days and rest on the seventh, just as he did with creation. So any gap theorists or evolution theaorists are gonna have a VERY long working week.

I believe the earth is approximately 6000 years old thus far and I believe this because the Genealogies trace it back to roughly that length of time although there are potential gaps in the genealogies. However I believe that as well as the genealogies, a 6000 year history is consistant with the typology that God uses through history in scripture and a 6000 year toil on earth followed by a 1000 year reign of peace would parallel the 6 days of toil and 1 day of rest in creation.

Dinosaurs are mentioned in the Bible. Behemoth and Leviathan being the most cited candidates, and yes they WOULD all fit on the ark.

Fossil dating is not a precise science, nor is geological dating. Methods such as carbon dating and radio-isotope dating are flawed science based on assumptions and often produce wildly varied results.

God says that creation speaks of him and I feel a good example is the triune nature of creation, from the Proton/Neutron/Electron nature of the atom, through the double-helix/hydrogen bond of DNA up to the three states of matter Liquid/Solid/Gas

God is in and around everything we see. His word is truth and we have no reason, despite the flawed wisdom of our most highly esteemed intellectual types, to doubt that what God says is true

Creation and ecvolution does not mix

The bible says God created the earth in six days, and therefore, I believe it. God is the one thing that has always proven true and perfect in my life, and never failing. God has shown many wonders to me, he has worked in my life, and if you just look outside at the world(even just a simple flower.. how complicated it can be), that is proof of creation

Cavemen? Shown as men that are truly stupid and idiots? I don't think so..

My pastor has never preached on this so this is just my opinion.. I think the whole view of "cavemen" is out of whacked. God didnt' create us stupid.. he created us with a language(Cain and Abel) and with some form of sense of right and wrong.

For instance, you have the first known game of hide-and-go-seek :P Adam and Eve disobeyed, and they hid. God went and looked for them(although he always knew where they were). I don't believe in the whole caveman thing as it is portrayed.

I don't believe that evolution and creation can co-exist. What scientists "know" is all theory. The world itself, I think, is only about 7-8 thousand years old.. they talk about billions.. and how old the dinosaurs were...

Why not ask those people how they think the world came about.. how it came ot be so miraculous... Big bang? God said it, and bang, it happened... Other than that.... it coudlnt' have all started from one organism which they still can not tell me where that all came from...

Stick with the bible, and you'll never go wrong :)

Besides, Science has more loopholes than theories..

Science tells us that the universe was formed many billions of years ago.

The Bible tells us that it happened about 6,000 years ago (Read the genealogy of Jesus and see that we go backwards from Jesus to Adam, who was a literal person).

Science tells us that the sun was formed before earth.

The Bible tells us that the earth was formed before the sun.

Science tells us the earth cooled down from a hot mass.

The Bible tells us that the earth was formed in water.

Science tells us it rained on the rocks for millions of years to create oceans.

The Bible tells us it didn

Don't get bogged down in a "creation vs evolution" discussion as it is usually a smoke screen brought up to avoid the real issue - what are you going to do with Jesus Christ?

There were no "cave men" as is usually thought. There were (and are) humans who lived in caves but they were not part of an evolutionary process.

What one believes about the creation of man and the Earth has nothing to do with where they will spend Eternity. However, if one believes he descended from a monkey it may very well cause him to think he is no more or less than an animal and he will conduct his life accordingly. Therein lies the danger of the theory of evolution.

i dont think i'd consider creationsism vs evolution vs gap theory etc...as getting "bogged down". i think this is a very very important issue. it's a nice "coincidence" that NewPilgram posted a link to Ken Ham (who, btw, i'd never heard of until today). he makes a very good point as to why taking the first 11 verses litterally is important.

btw, thanks, y'all, for the responses. they've helped. do you guys have any advice as to how to help my husband. he's not sure if he even believes in God and i think a major part of it is b/c he agrees with the theory of evolution and doesn't understand how God and evolution can "co-exist".... i was just wondering if y'all had any ideas. like websites or book or something. thanks.

I'd highly recommend this site:

Discovery Institute

Anything by William Dembski, Phillip Johnson, Nancy Pearcey or a book by Jonathan Wells called Icons of Evolution. Science is not at odds with Christianity. Science has actually validated many of our beliefs (the discovery of DNA is just one example).

Here's an interesting article too:

Scientific Dissent from Darwinism

I agree that it is an important issue. Not only is it current events, but believers should be educated on how to deal with these conversations when they arise. To me, it's not so important how God created the world (i.e. literal days or not), but the fact that He did do it. If we could focus our energy on defending the fact that God created it, instead of on how He did it...we might get further with the unbelievers around us.

Anyone can find the resource for me about the Evolution of Humans came from Monkey? My pastor's wife taught me before but I forgot. I only remember, scientists want people to see them as smart people, so they tried to think that we humans came from monkey. They said, "Oh, we came from this family of monkey, but this type of monkey no longer existed Could you believe that? Until now, they can't find a single bone of any monkey that can prove we are from monkey. Then how can they print their unprovened ideas in science books and expect everyone of us to believe in it? If we evolved from monkey, then later on, what will we evolve into? Super smart aliens? Do you know it took a lot of geniuses' white hair to think of nature's formulas that you've learned in math and sciences? We cannot, from unlogical monkeys, turned to logical human beings in that kind of evolution. It's totally against natural law.

Here's another good source for you Dr.Dino

I think you answered your own question rather well, minister to your husband through established sources on the net and in literature. And remind him that regardless of what scientific speculation presents to us, there will be some things that we will just never understand and faith in God enables us to not IGNORE the unknown, but rather to accept the fact that it is...unknown. And as Ambassador says, when it comes crunch time, the big decision is not who did what and when, its "Do YOU believe in JESUS" After all ifsomeone continually looks for reasons NOT to believe, eventually his unbelief will leave him unstuck.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
