Interested by the question, I thought I would go to dictionary.com and see what we are talking about. I find it valuable to know that we are talking about the samething by defining some terms.

entries found for Cult.

cult ( P ) Pronunciation Key (klt)

n.

A religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader.

The followers of such a religion or sect.

A system or community of religious worship and ritual.

The formal means of expressing religious reverence; religious ceremony and ritual.

A usually nonscientific method or regimen claimed by its originator to have exclusive or exceptional power in curing a particular disease.

Obsessive, especially faddish, devotion to or veneration for a person, principle, or thing.

The object of such devotion.

An exclusive group of persons sharing an esoteric, usually artistic or intellectual interest.

I find this interesting because, really, we could, within our own group, classify everyone outside our group as a cult. Pointing to this and that and the other thing which we may consider radical or different. So, as I am considering this delema, I must consider the term "Cult" as everything different than my own way of looking at things because cult is not a biblical term or idea. That would make the question confronting me the wrong question because it is totally subjective. Now what do I do? All I have now is tit for tat, this for that to solve the riddle, and probably end up more confused than when I started.

So as the question is phrased, "Are Jehovah's Whitnesses A Cult?" the answer would be yes, they just as much a cult as any other religious organization.

Now were do I go? Well......

1John 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

1John 5:1. Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

2. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

3. And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

I submit these verses to put into biblical terms the question:

Are the Jehovah's Whitnesses Christ's or antichrist.

A religion ( Cult ) that eliminates 2 out of 3 persons of the trinity must just be the wrong one.

This is my opinion. What is yours?

If you agree now than we can call them Heretical religious people.

I don't know how to do that Quote thing, so I just copied and pasted.

Thank you for your response to my comments, it's just nice to be noticed. Yea, I suppose "Heretical religious people" would work just fine, but simply put, antichrist matches "Jehovahs visible organization" for the very reason that you stated. The original message said that the JW's had accepted the KJV for the last 100 years. That has not been my experience with them, they only accept the KJV as interpreted by the Watchtower. "In Context" means what the Watchtower considers "in context" the poor people may be out and about doing all kinds of stuff, but they must remain the servant of the Watchtower. Jesus has to be demoted to something other than The Son of God so their true trinity can Jehovah-Watchtower-active force, to much of Jesus messes things up for them. That has been my experience talking with JW's. I feel sorry for them for believeing that all of what is known of God comes out of Brooklyn New York.

Dave,

As an organization, Jehovah's Witnesses have been abused, persecuted. For example, during WWII, in Germany, Hitler tried to exterminate them by imprisoning them in concentration camps, such as the Sachsenhausen, Dachau and Mauthausen concentration camps, the death camp at Ravensbr

Grace to you,

Timbo;

Many believe rumors that are passed around. However, unfounded rumors and misinformation have also provided fuel for harmful gossip. During the American Civil War, endless vinelike strands of telegraph lines were strung between military posts. The

Grace to you,

Timbo,

QUOTE

Throughout history, God's people have been attacked, either physically or by verbal abuse.

I fail to see where anyone has verbally abused you or attacked you personally. However some have endeavored to point out the error of a Religious practice which leads to death (Jehovahs Witness). In the full Light of Gods revealed Truth as bound up in Christ Jesus and His everlasting Word.

I believe that the Truth has been spoken. Let the Word of God stand.

We are commanded to refuse any teaching which does not concur with the Truth as we have received it. That is in effect that we are all sinners and God died for our sins on a Cross atoning for us. Rising in New Life and triumphing over hell and death. Leaving us with the promise of His Ressurected life and Hope by Faith. Anything we have to offer outside of that Work, The Work of God, is filthy rags in His presence and will be rejected alongside His Righteousness.Christ Jesus the Righteousness of God come in mans flesh. Your gospel steals away the power and simplicity of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore we reject it and speak the Truth in Love.

I pray the Lord Richly Blesses you.

Peace,

Dave

Timbo,

You never answered me.

Is Jesus Christ God come in the flesh? Do you deny the Gospel of our Lords Saving Grace?

No one is persecuting you here either. :th_praying:

Again the Truth has been spoken in Love.

Peace,

Dave

TIMBO. Is that the best argument you have? thats extremely poor. By the same logic native africans are God's sole representatives on earth, by the same logic muslims are God's sole representatives on earth, by the same logic buddhists are God's sole representatives on earth, the KKK, even some nazi's are persecuted when their allegences are made known, there are those within each of these categories who would defend the honour of Christ, yes even some nazi's. Yet you claim that the persecution of JWs is evidence that THEY are God's sole representatives on earth and I assume that you are not exclusively native african, buddhist or muslim etc... JW's get afflicted and persecuited, so what, welcome to a long line of persecuted people. Instead of flanneling, why dont you produce a compelling SCRIPTURAL case. How about starting with addressing the question which I have already posted to you and WOJ twice.. You can find it here

WOW - one question - are the JW's a cult - led to all this? Of course it is a cult - as are all the so-called churches and their claims to authority. Jesus is declared to be the one we all hope in, but if we were all following Jesus, this thread would've been much shorter, don't you agree?

Matthew 15:14

"Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit."

Luke 6:39

And He also spoke a parable to them: " A blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he? Will they not both fall into a pit?

If they declare Jesus - I can pray that He has a plan for them as He has for me as He has for you - and let it be. Arguing only leads to division, and we are all divided too much already.

God Bless.

Jesus Himself warned that "false prophets shall arise & deceive many". The false cult of "Jehovah's False Witnesses" didn't even exist until the mid-nineteenth-century! Its founder was a Pittsburgh haberdasher named Charles Taze Russell who, by the way, died divorced from his wife, a vital point the cult doesn't wish to pursue. Rather than being any "watchtower", the JFWs rather stand as signposts.....to the very gehenna they ridicule!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
