Put a Door On My Mouth

I receive a newsletter from David Wilkerson, (Author: Cross & the Switchblade; founder of Teen Challenge & Times Square Church).

His newsletter hit me pretty hard this time. I wanted to share this with all.

For brevity's sake, I am condensing the article for the main points.

James warns the church, "The tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell" (James 3:6)

It is a great sin in God's eyes for us to speak in ways that tarnish someone else's reputation. Proverbs tells us, "A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and

Not a popular subject; we have to look too closely at ourselves.

It hit me pretty hard, that's for sure.

I can but speak for myself, but I am very careful about my words and my intent.

While the tongue can be and "unrulely evil" it is also the member God gave us to proclaim the truth with.

But yes, my dear sister, let us take care when speaking to and about others.

Our Lord in His trials preceding His death knew when to 'keep quite and when to speak' may we allow the Holy Spirit to constantly teach us the same.

Theres only one thing I can say;

The MEDIA.

T.V, Newspapers,Tabloids.

Theres your main source of slander, false witness.

They claim to be fair, unbiased. Ridiculous!

I realize that individuals (mostly) are the source of this. They say something, the news reports it.

But the Media today feeds off of every little thing they can and will report it in blazing glory for all the world to see.

God help the poor souls who are innocent of any claims against them.

Guilt or innocence is of no matter to the world of Media Giants.

Only after they have destoyed a persons life, do they mention in some very obscure time slot, or back page, that the person was innocent.

What a joke.

Look what they did to Jerry Falwell, He said he was Sorry! Leave him alone!

The Media should be held accountable for every single thing they print or show or say.

The way it is today, they are more powerful than any other organization I can think of. Including the White House, or any other Political system.

The Media could, if they so chose to do, could easily oust a President with a few slanderous aligations. They could destroy anyone they wanted to.

I apologize to anyone who works in the media. I do not mean to criticize individual writers or reporters.

My main beef is with the decisions on higher levels who's first concern is ratings, not truth.

The article written by David Wilkerson was very long and I didn't mention the parts about guarding just our mouthes but also our eyes and ears.

This fits right in...take for example, Jerry Springer or Jenny Jones or similar broadcasts.

They feed like sharks on human misery. I can't bear to watch these shows. It's hard enough to deal with just when channel surfing.
