That's a very touchy subject with me! Ya know, I see where the record labels are coming from, but they owe a huge debt of thanks to themselves. Most music sounds alike these days no matter what genre. Some stupid country song gets a "remix" version and gets played on a pop station, but the song is still awful! They have a tendency to push one or two songs from a CD, maybe three at best, then expect that on that basis you are supposed to plunk down $16 or $17 for it. Then, there are artists who were popular back in the day, but simply are not supported by the record labels any more. Many times the only way to find their stuff is on a P2P site and it's usually pretty scratchy quality coming from a vinyl source. Even though the artist doesn't have the stuff on CD and the label refuses to release it, they will still sue you.

The one, though, that burns me up is what has happened recently with Hank Williams' rare radio shows. The record label has had since the mid-60's until the late 90's to license these recordings and release them, but never did. Finally, another label tried to release the songs without permission and found themselves in a lawsuit with Hank's heirs-Jett and Hank, Jr. Williams. A court on September 11th of this year ruled the songs to be their exclusive property, but on October 22, Universal Music/Mercury Nashville (Hank's label) filed an appeal to stop them from being released by Jett Williams. They don't care about the Hank fans, but their bottom dollar. All the while, these are passed around between collector's on bootleg tapes and are available for download on at least one P2P site!

WE are finding around the house violent and sexual drawings the kids are doing. We hear them on the phone when they think we are not listening and their language is full of vulgarities and smut. When hiking or camping or any family function they spend most of it complaining about how stupid it all is. We over hear them talking and it's always about who is doing who in school. Even though here in the home we spend our time with them, we do everything in our power to stand between them and the influences of the world at large the world is still winning.

As a youth leader this seems to me as typical teenagers in rebellion and experementing. The public school helps add to this.........Parents go to your teens school library and browse the books they are allowed to read. Ask to see what is being taught in their school. I am sure you will be stunned. These teens need our prayers, and yet they need to learn what the consequences to certain things are. I have found by observing that if we protect them too much 7 times outta 10 they are going to rebel. Have a little more faith in our kids. Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it

I've got too kids in kindergarten (though one doesn't really belong there, but that's another story) and they've come in and told us about things we won't allow them to watch here that are questionable and as I tell them-I can't control what you watch at school, but I can control what you watch at home. But, I am so glad that at their young age they have the discernment to know that they're seeing something we don't approve of!
