GOD knows EVERYTHING... my question? If GOD knows everything..(AND HE DOES)...how can you get up in the morning and decide your course of the day? HE knows the outcome. HE knows all that is going to happen..therefore you have no input...what happened to your personal free will on your life?? Every decision you make is already known by GOD...is your life pre-destined? I believe so. There is NO free will..therefore pre-destination...he knew you in the womb ..every hair on your head...your destiny...how does prayer enter this equation.....? GOD created all and KNOWS all..HE knows everything you have done and will do...you are no stranger to HIM...how can you even begin to WONDER what your next step in this life will be? Ponder my contribution...and reply. misterD.

Hello misterD,

Others here provided great answers. At first I was answering you directly but then somehow it changed; it no longer answers your question directly. I hope the following will change your thinking...

What you have presented is a useless endeavour. It has been brought up and approached many times in the past. I'm sure you can find historical documentary on stuff like pre-destination and free-will under an omni-potent God on the internet or in a library. The predicament that we see from your question is from the limitation of man's mind.

Firstly, we have no capacity to comprehend an infinite God. We are limited beings trying to comprehend a limited earth but are still in progress of it(science). For the thousands of years man has inhabited earth we still do not know everything about earth itself. Consider the following: Can a fruit fly or an earthworm ever learn how to do calculus or differential equations? Does this fly or worm have the brain capacity to do this? Who are we to an infinite God? What if we are like the fly or the worm?

Here are some things that don't make sense to us intuitively but have been confirmed by modern physics.

-One object can exist in two places at the same time (quantum physics)

-Time is relative (one second here may not be one second over there; time can be faster or slower under different circumstances)

Some insight into String Theory indicates that time is actually an illusion and that everything from past to present to future is already laid out. The reason we cannot perceive this is because we are adapated to perceiving just 3 dimensions spatially and another dimension (time) by reason or intution. All the while the String Theory points out that our universe is made up of 11 dimensions...we only recognize (or are able to comprehend) maybe 5.

Conclusions such as because God knows everything then we can't have free will is man's concept and very limited. Just because these two things contradict in the mind of man does not make it the final word. I hope everything is coming together now. The reason I referenced all this physics is to show:

1) Time is not what we thought it was. So this really creates some fundamental changes of what man thinks of pre-destination and God knowing the future...of which man does not have a solid stand on in the first place.

2) Man's knowledge is still incomplete (discovering more and more about our universe)

3)Man's concept and thinking is limited.

We may never understand or comprehend God. We are just scratching the surface of our universe by the research of the world's smartest people (physicists and mathematicians; generalization but for the most part true) who are building upon the work of the world's smartest people in the past (past physicists and mathematicians). What makes us think we can fully understand God when we are still trying to understand what He has created?

All we really need to know is found in Christ. Philosophy and reasoning only make us go in circles. They produce more questioning. We have the spirit to comprehend the spiritual things of God. We are taught by the Holy Spirit. Pray and stay in fellowship with Him throughout the day. Only the spirit can receive the things of God.

1 Corinthians 2:13

And we are setting these truths forth in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the [Holy] Spirit, combining and interpreting spiritual truths with spiritual language [to those who possess the Holy Spirit].

1 Corinthians 3:20

And again, The Lord knows the thoughts and reasonings of the [humanly] wise and recognizes how futile they are.

Do not trust in man's reasoning; trust in God fully.

1 Timothy 1:3-5 (Amplified Bible)

4Nor to give importance to or occupy themselves with legends (fables, myths) and endless genealogies, which foster and promote useless speculations and questionings rather than acceptance in faith of God's administration and the divine training that is in faith ([a]in that leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence)--

5Whereas the object and purpose of our instruction and charge is love, which springs from a pure heart and a good (clear) conscience and sincere (unfeigned) faith.

If any man living today or yesterday or tomorrow, knew all the answers, then we wouldn't need the bible. Feilx has more or less put in a nut shell.

Solomon summed it up it for us........Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.Ecc12:13. I for one don't give a hoot about foreknowledge, predestination or OSAS pre trib or post trib. All I know is to serve God to the best of my ability and pray that I, and all of those who are lost and are seeking the peace that surpasses all understanding, make the cut and are called home to be with Him........As for me and my house....

Your answers are all in the bible.

cheers,

eric.

Knowing something and controlling something are very different things. I know the sun will rise tomorrow, but I'm not the on that will make it rise. As far as predistination...I am certainly no Bible scholar or theologian, and I suppose I will get some nasty replies from offended people, but it is my opinion that although we are predestinated, we can choose to throw it away. I think the predestination is conditional on submitting to God's will. For example, God took away the destiny that He had offered to King Saul after he consulted a psychic. God said he would have made Saul's descendants the rulers of Israel forever, but Saul forfeitted that destiny when he chose to remove himself from God's plan.

very good :b:

I have pondered your question myself. I (and I believe the rest of humanity too) Have a desire to catagorize the seemingly chaotic nature of the universe. It's this catagorization that sometimes gets us in trouble. It is my belief that God sees things like this; ABC A being past B being present, and C being future. I think our catagorizations of past present and future are flawed. Reason being that God is not bound by time where as past present and future are. Our perceptions tell us A=B=C. God, in my opinion, sees things as already taken place. To him the past present and future are all one in the same. So when he says "I know you will mow your neighbors lawn 2 years from now!" In part it means he is already there in that point in time where I made the decision to mow my neighbors lawn, and that comes from his omni presence. Time as we know it is a catagorization in and of itself, and the proof is in the pudding. I may ask you where you were ten minutes ago and you can tell me, but it is a little harder for me to ask you that specifically. That all I got to say

God knows everything you will do because He's the beginning and the end. He sees everything you are going to do before you do it. He doesn't make you do it. He allows you to do it.. Of course this is only my opinion. :noidea:

I am NOT allowed to do it ...GOD KNOWS I'm going to do it...he KNOWS all...

Hello,

I read your first link. You do not believe time travel is possible. Another fellow here had said, "You cannot know the future...it is an open event." You like many others (perhaps 98% of the population) still have the conventional view of time.

Modern physics says something different. Things such as time dilation from Einstein's General and Special theory of relativity would confirm that time travel is possible...future (easily) AND to the past as well (more complicated). The problems that would occur by traveling back to the past comes from the conventional understanding of time. What's happening is that man's concept of time is limited and erroneous. Insight into the developing theory -String Theory- is providing a framework of a new thinking.

We only see time in one way. What String Theory suggests is that the universe is possibly 11 dimensions. We only naturally conceive 4 dimensions (length, width, depth, and time) and perhaps with a little more thinking we can conceive the fifth. What these theories imply is that time (the fourth dimension) is already laid out. Past, present and future is already there just like a road. God can lay an infinite road and know every inch of it.

Well...I know this isnt enough to satisfy most of you...please PM if you would like to know more. Basically, what I'm trying to get across is that man has no true concept of time. Until you actually take a look at modern physics you can't really argue this stuff with conventional logic because this is flawed.

This probably creates more questions...go ahead.

Modern physics is fatalistic? It tells us that there is no free will?

Well, this is a hard question. I won't pretend I know the answer or even understand what it could be, but I heard a great analogy on the radio a little while ago that at least answered the question of "why does God allow bad things to happen?"

It went something like this: It is sort of like God is sitting on a mountain top watching two aeroplanes flying towards each other at a 'great rate of knots'. He knows that the outcome will be a collision if one of the planes does not change direction very quickly and he obviously hopes that it will. God stops short of actually "making" a plane change direction, but if the pilot of one or both planes puts his trust in God and "does the right thing", everything will be OK.

God knows the "right path" and also knows "our hearts" and how we will react to a situation. He knows what will happen to us (has predertermined that) and so as long as we go "with God's plan" everything will turn out as he wants it to. But we still have free will, we can reject God altogether and totally mess things up.

I'm going to be thinking about this all night. But truthfully I think I'll have to put it down to "just another of those things that we haven't yet got the capability of understanding because it for God to know, and if he'd wanted us to understand it now, he would have told us".

Here is the way i see it

1.God gave us free will

2.God seesand knows all

God know everything we will do or say in this life.He gave us free will but it is up to us to choose the road we will travel.Sometimes we hurt other people, but we are let doing it because of our free will.God does not intrefere in our lives unless He ie asked.I sometimes wonder if God sheds tears over what we do wrong.the world was set up to run on cause and effect, for every action there is a reaction.God know all this but still gave us free choice. We can choose to follow Him and eternal life or not and spend eternity with Him.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
