So what you are saying is that any sin at all with spiritually kill us?

Sagz-

Yes, that is what I'm saying. Unless a person comes to repentance and obedience to God in regards to salvation, then yes that person will spiritually die in their sin.

Amen, e4s! I call this the age of accountability. When you understand what sin is and the consequences of it, you're accountable for your sins.  Good post!

Thanks, Goldman.

Remember that Jesus went to the temple at the age of 12 because of the age of accountability!

e4s-

That's why it's important for a Christian parent to emphasize salvation to their child when they become of that age or around that age. I believe you have hit this one on the nail. Thanks for your reply!

1 John 2:16

"16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world."

If you were to break down each sin from the littlest lie to the greatest of mass murders, you can see that they all stem from one of the above three. These, friends, can spiritually kill us.

This is very true Goldman!

The church body, much like the family body, has lost its "Head"! We have no leader to hold us accountable anymore. The church used to be under the Authority of The Word, through the congregation itself. The family used to be under the authority of the father figure and therefore held accountable. This is not the case anymore. We need to examine ourselves, and be willing to admit whether or not we are actively involved in sin in our lives, in our families lives? Do we care enough about our friends and family to tell them the truth, and hold them accountable, to recognize the destruction of sin? Are we knowingly sinning against God?

I am claiming these things myself, because my pastor has not done it. I am speaking these things here, in case your pastor has not told you..... sin leads to destruction and separation from God, but Jesus Christ has the Power and Authority to Save You! But you must first recognize your sin, and ask Jesus to forgive you for it, and HEAL YOU! Then you must believe the Power of the Lord to overcome ALL sin! Walk in the Spirit of the Lord, not the flesh. This is the working of grace.

Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Ephesians 3:7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

The death of Jesus Christ and His shed blood, affords us the power to live in accordance to God's ways. Pleasing to Him in His Righteousness and Power, overcoming the strongholds of sin, and effectively displaying the Power of God working in us and through us. His Grace is sufficient for us to be able to serve God acceptably with reverance and awe.

In His Love,

Suzanne

I just want to point out that Satan is still using the same three lies that he started in the Garden of Eden.

The three lies he told to Eve were the same as in 1 John 2:16 (we will look at Genesis 3:6)

1. the lust of the flesh (the woman saw that the tree was good for food)

2. the lust of the eyes (and that it was a delight to the eyes)

3. the pride of life (and tha the tree was desirable to make one wise)

Did he ever try it again? Well....

Matthew 4:4-8

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said,

endure,

Just the same way that Adam & Eve were created without sin, so are each one of us. We are all innocent of sin until we are aware of it and the consequences that follow--spiritual death.

::EDIT::

Can you please explain this? It sounds to me like you are saying we are born without sin. This goes against CLEAR Scripture support for the opposite. Just want to be clarified on this.

Sagz, yes. I am saying that we are born without the knowledge of sin.

I just posted many verses that prove this and there is no verse that proves otherwise anywhere in the Bible.

Remember, Paul said he was alive before he knew about sin and after he did--he died. He was still alive when he wrote his epistles, so it must mean spiritual death.

First of all, we need to define the word sin.

Sin: An offense or transgression against the laws of God.

Who is guilty of sin?

Everyone who acknowledges and understands the repercussions of their actions and thoughts, whether they be against man or God.

So, with this in mind, how is it possible for a baby or small child, who has no idea of what sin is, to sin? And why is it, that we are told to be as little children? I think the answer's very clear to both of these questions.

Just a little food for thought. :)

We're on the same page Goldman,

I was wanting to ask the question too, "Does everyone know WHEN they sin? Do we ALL know the moment we sin?"

I think that is why it is important to hear the gospel as children, and to hear the 10 Commandments as children.

I think we DO KNOW. What do you all think?

There is no doubt in my mind when I sin. AS a matter of fact, from experience, I will go one step further. We know before it happens that we are facing the poosibility to sin. (Called temptaion). There is also something we Christians go through called trials. And depending on the way we handle them, they can cause us to sin as well.

This is a HUGE part of growth for the Christian. It is how we mature in the faith and how we learn to rely on God for EVERYTHING! Read James 1:2-4. When we encounter trials of various kinds, where do we go for help? What actions do we take? Whom do we rely upon to pull us through? Trials are a way to draw us closer to God in the difficult times so we can learn to draw close to Him during the good times. (For it seems that Christians only come to God when they have a problem).

This is expressly why it is important to teach our children the statues of the Lord at as young an age as is possible. That way, he will not depart from the standard of morals he was raised with when he gets older. (Prayerfully).

You see, we as humans have no morals. We base our standard of living on what seems right for the moment. We base our standards on the need of the moment. We are incapable of creating a standard that is fair, just, and righeous. That is why we need the Lord. HIS standard is FAIR! HIS standard is JUST! HIS standard is RIGHTEOUS! The Spirit that indwells us at the time of our calling upon the Lord in repentace and faith becomes our guide. He becomes our conscience. That is how we know when we are tempted. When we are carried away and enticed by our own lusts, the Spirit pricks our heart/mind. "Hey!! Look out....this is a dangerous road you are on!"

But glory to God for allowing us never to be tempted beyond the strength given us to resist that temptation!

1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but the temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it.

Hebrews 3:5 And Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward, 6 but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.

7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: "Today, if you will hear His voice, 8 Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness, 9 Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, And saw My works forty years. 10 Therefore I was angry with that generation, And said, 'They always go astray in their heart, And they have not known My ways.' 11 So I swore in My wrath, 'They shall not enter My rest.' " 12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called "Today," lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, 15 while it is said: "Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion." 16 For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses? 17 Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

In His Love,

Suzanne

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
