I knew a young Buddhist boy, who as a rebellious teenager about 15 decided he was 'going to become a Christian' literally, because he thought it would make his parents upset (little brat!!!). Well, it did have that desired effect. He decided he was going to spend every possible moment around Christians and with the Bible, so he could pick up the lingo, and drive his parents nuts, until they agreed to buy him the Camaro he wanted; if they would do that, he would 'reconvert' to Buddhism. It did NOT have that desired effect!

But as he kept going to church, hanging around us, and reading the Bible (our youth group was extremely active in spiritual disciplines, and we used to meet in groups of 3-6 in a very unstructured way, just socially, at a coffee shop nearby, almost every day, and talk and talk and talk about the Bible; I don't know how any of us passed high school!), and discussing it.

SOMETHING TOOK! I don't think his initial 'profession of faith' meant anything--all he wanted was that Camaro--but eventually, he truly gave his heart tot he Lord, and also won his parents.

So I DON'T CARE if your initial profession was for the 'right reasons.' I care about the state of your soul now.

Fire insurance is a good thing to have... :)

If You repented of your sins and you accepted Jesus as your Saviour..You are His..

You signed the dotted line...His child you are..

Imagine a father rejecting a child because it just wanted to sit in daddy's lap for comfort...

I do understand your feelings...You want to please Him just like an earthly child wants to please its father...

you have received some comfort and now you want to be in His lap because you are thankful ...nothing wrong with that...Just accept His love and commit your heart to serve Him..

No one comes to Him for the same specific reasons , we all have our own personal relationship and I can guess that most of us came to Him to save our hides....

After all that is why He died for us isn't it.??To save us ??Who wants to go to hell??

The fear of the Lord is only the beginning of wisdom...

Praise Him for His great Love and commit your life to His service and ask Him to lead you on...

That commitment should give your heart peace... :noidea:

Lord Bless you and show you the next step in your relationship with Him...

There are lots of us who first accepted the Lord for "fire insurance". And if that is all you know at the time then that is a good reason to accept him. We realized that He is the Judge and we needed to go his way. Many many years have passed since that fateful day. And the reason I first accepted him has not in any way hindered me from growing and going on in the Love and Mercy of our LORD.

God knows why you accepted him and He was perfectly willing to accept you. All you have to do now is stop looking at that time and continue on in Him. It is the today that counts. Praise His Wonderful Name.

I am of the opinion that "fire insurance" is a good thing. That fact that you came to Christ for "fire insurance" is a great testamony to your "faith" (aka belief) in Christ in the first place. This shows that you not only understand and acknowledge the person known as Jesus Christ, but also believe Jesus Christ to be the Son of God. This is a testamony to your own personal "fear of God".

As you grow in Christ - your faith will grow as well. There will be times when your faith is put to the test. There will be times when you fail. And you'll kick yourself for it. And God is fogirving the entire time. He knew you'd fail the test - but you didn't. But once you have failed, you have become aware of your short comings and can focus on strengthening that area of your life through prayer and study of the Word of God (the Bible). And next time you are confronted with a similar test, you just might be ready and pass it. But one day, you will be hit with a harder test. The cycle is never ended. This is spiritual growth.

We are like metal being shaped into a sword. We're heated in the fire, shaped by the might of the anvil and hammer, flash cooled, and re-heated if necessary - all to make us as strong and as unbreakable as possible.

God also wants us to love Him and to follow and obey Him as well. But taking out "fire insurance" is a good first step. If God is your insurance carrier, and you say "God, I believe you have the best deal on fire insurance - hook me up" God will be more than happy to ablige your request.

But then, don't you feel a sense of joy and happiness in knowing that you are covered? - God's fire insurance plan will take care of you at death - so it's not really fire insurance - it's a spiritual death insurance.

And when you think about the price you havd to pay to aquire this insurance plan - nothing more than asking for it, doesn't that make you more appreciative of God? God gave you this insurance for free because He loves you. WOW! Isn't that cool? So insurance for free. Doesn't this make you want to take time to get to know this all-loving God even more? And then, doesn't that make you want to tell other's - hey - guess what, I got my insurance for free - God loved me and gave it to me - at no cost - just for believeing in Him.

Guess what - now you are believing in Him AND you are following His command to do good works - you're spreading the Word. You are bearing good fruit.

So I don't think it's a matter of how you get introduced to God - I think it's a matter of how you conduct yourself in the relationship once the introductions are over. Do you make attempts on your part to nurture that reationship or go about your merry way and forget about it?

This is what seperates Christians from non-Christians.

So, yeah - you're on the right track - just keep your eyes on God, even if it's just a "Get out of Hell Free" card to start with. As long as your intentions and earnest and your vigilent in your search for God, God won't let you down.

For it is written:

"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

[Matthew 7:7-8 - KJV]

Blessings to you!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
