"You're missing the point. I don't need to. I'm reading the Textus Receptus...what the New Testament is translated from, and I'm telling you right now the word is not found in there. THey can claim it is, but it simply is not there."

Well, I'm reading my Greek and wala! there it is in verse 21. upotassomenoi. plain as daylight. There is no verb in verse 22. It is referring back to verse 21 to obtain the verb.

I doubt you are, you're probably using the book. :24:

Secondly, what manuscript are you using if you are reading it?

Third, what do you call that little hupotassesthe? That's not a verb? Wow.

Fourth, hupotassomenoi still draws from hupotasso. Your point is irrelevant as it all still refers to submission. If you're going to argue that the verb in 22 draws off 21, then we have to apply this to the rest of the verbs as well, meaning that children can do as they wish as they really don't have authority.

It's also not in Colossians, which we need to use in accompanying this translation.

I know why I did ...and there are a million reasons why..

all of them have to be overcome in my life...

Like correction..another dirty word...

Human nature I am afraid...

My husband and I both really struggled with "you aren't gonna tell me what to do"...

And to some degree we still struggle with it just not near as much as we did in those first few years...

It is something we will fight until He comes ....

Why do some people see "submit" as a bad thing?

Many people on earth have been abused or otherwise mistreated by those in authority over them on at least one occasion. Being married means being vulnerable, being vulnerable to someone who has the potential to hurt you is scary. Understanding that even those who love you will be imperfect and will hurt you is scary. Some teachings as to what submission means can also be very scary...

we also read things in commentaries on history which tell you at one time you were allowed to "discipline" your wife so long as she did not recieve a wound bigger than your thumb....

I can think of a million reasons...and I believe it is proper for a loving wife to submit to a loving husband.

How do these ideas of husband being the loving leader and a wife being the loving follower and ruler of the household, play out in reality today? I might as well open up more of a hornet

Some people see submission as a negative thing because, honestly, satan has distorted it. This is why we see several here (mostly women, ironically) arguing that they do not have to submit to their husband's authority. Satan has deceived them and distorted the roles God designed to such an extent that they must do biblical acrobatics in order to justify their value (which they perceive to be diminished if they are required to submit). They view the fact that God designed order (i.e. the husband is the head of the wife) as negative because they incorrectly perceive this to mean they are lesser in value. It has been stated earlier, but it's worth repeating....in a military setting, there is a chain of command. This does not mean those higher in the chain of command are more valuable than those under their charge. It simply lends itself to an organized system that functions properly. Everyone is seen as valuable (in fact, they vow not to leave one single person behind...despite their rank). Each soldier has a duty to look out for the others, and yet he also submits to the authority of those higher in rank. Those who lead the soldiers bare great responsibility, but it does not make them anymore valuable than those below them.

Regarding whether or not young women should be encouraged to go to college, have careers, etc. I'd say that they should be encouraged academically in all the same ways boys are, however, they should be taught that having a family is equally as valid and valuable to society as being a CEO of a corporation. Some women God may gift to be leaders outside of the home and He may use them greatly in this capacity, but others He will give the high calling of nurturing their children and shaping the minds of the generation to come.

Oh, I also should add that another thing girls should be taught is that even if God gives them a position of leadership and authority outside the home, she still (by God's original design) has an obligation to yield to her husband's authority and leadership inside the home. I think that having power and control outside the home (i.e. certain careers) can make it more difficult to relinquish that when you are in a marriage, but the difficulty does not negate it's importance. Nor does the difficulty mean that women can't overcome it. I know many couples where the wife and husband both have successful careers. Some of them are able to leave their career mentalities at the door when they come home, others struggle with it. But just like with the original sin, we all still struggle with wanting power and control. God's designed for order should've settled this issue, but of course in our sinful nature, we still tug back and forth.

Well I'm glad that all words are recorded and they show that no one is arguing 1) that submission is negative, 2) that women don't have to submit to their husband's 3) about a woman's self worth or value, and 4) that the chronological ordering of man and woman is negative.

This thread is discussing the meaning of 'submission'.

I find it really strange that you have mentioned non-issue arguments. :24: Read the posts, it's all recorded like the written word.

I do agree with your last paragraph. :whistling:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
