What is blasphemy? Is it unforgivable?

What exactly is blasphemy- the unforgivable sin? I have heard it is denying Christ. Let me tell ya why I ask. I have been dealing with depression and panic attacks. I asked Oral Roberts Ministries to help me because I can't seem to overcome it alone. Even though I know fear is from Satan I can not put faith over fear. I say I will and then I fall. My mind utters words that I don't agree with, like it curses God all day and I don't want it to nor do I believe the unwanted things it says. I have taken anti-psychotics but they don't work. A psychologist told me God knows my heart and looks at that but I want only praise and honor to go to the Father not words that have to hurt him. I need deliverence and I need as much prayer as you can give. I know I sound psychotic to you but please do not be scared of me. Please tell me if this is blasphemy or what it is because psychiatrist can't help it and some churches ignore spiritual warfare- only one has tried to help me and I moved out of that state.

I do not believe that blasphemy of the Holy Spirit can be committed by a Christian.

Dear Victory in Him,

I am so sorry to hear of the problems that you are having with controlling your mind. Since the drugs did not help you then it sounds like you are being deeply oppressed by a demonic spirit. You can assuredly win over the enemy. Your sins are forgiven if you have asked God to forgive you and the demonic realm has no rights to your mind. You probably need to be shutting some doors to what is going on. If you want to send a personal message and talk back and forth that way then I will be glad to be a sounding board for you by way of personal message and help all I can.

May you be encouraged. And may you know that you Can win this battle.....

I know exactly what you're dealing with, Vic. I don't think you're psychotic. I've experienced the same things, but they were mostly before I was saved. After I got saved and started shutting doors in my life, like Shep said, it gradually went away. I was so ashamed of it, I never told anyone, and by the time I heard other people had experienced it, that it was demonic, it had stopped. Shep and Lawyer are both right. I wish I would've reached out like you did, but I guess it happened the way it was supposed to. I hope you're taking them up on their offer of help. As Christians, we don't have to put up with these things anymore.

sorry i'm not sure what exactly blasphemy is.

is it saying things about god or the holy spirit uncontrollably or saying things about him deliberately?

or is it denying that you're a christian? is swearing in god's name or using his name in vain blasphemous? doesn anyone know of a bible passage that refers to it?

No sin is unforgivable. Anyone who goes around telling you otherwise is not correct. LawyerForGod, when you delivery someone from evil spirits online using MSN, do you charge a fee? :P Benny Hinn should get into this.

Hi Tinklebelle,

Blasphemy, within the framework of this conversation, is a sin that is done as a deliberate attempt to injure God's charachter. It is done deliberately by God's enemies in their full knowledge of the truth. It is equivalent to the legal terms "defamation of character" or "libel."

Unfortunately when certain supernatural manifestations occur, those who question if their source is truly the Lord are threatened into silence with be accused of committing "blasphemy of the Holy Spirit." When examined in the context it appears in Scripture, there is no way a Christian can commit this sin. One has to apply it outsided of the given scriptural context in order to apply to modern Christians. You basically have to violate sound rules of interpretation of Scripture to label other Christians as such.

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is unforgivable. What is it? Giving credit to Satan for the works of the Holy Spirit. In my humble opinion, there are a few posters on here who flirt with it.

Very well put on the definition of blasphemy. A small child once asked me what sin was, I said anything that displeases God. We must come as children to the Lord amen.

In reality only God alone knows who is guilty of this sin. You may want to reconsider your statement which I believe is a reference by you (from a prior thread) to those of us who believe the works of the devil are being paraded around as the work of the Holy Spirit in Word of Faith circles.

We can certainly know who commits this sin. It is evident. It is not a mystery.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
