All I will say is that if some pastors are WOF, then not all of them are bad! Some are wonderful and scriptural, and God uses them mightily, as God has His hand on them and their ministries!

Exactly....and it makes me wonder about some of the others....

Word of Faith is a specific set of doctrines which are indeed heretical as they change the nature of God, the nature of Christ, the nature of salvation, the nature of the atonement and the very essence of faith itself into something totally unbiblical.

Any truly biblical pastor who affiliated him/herself with this set of doctrines unawares should be told exactly what they are accidentally promoting by use of the title "word of faith" in relationship to their ministries. Their use of the name, if they are truly not heretical, would lead those who have not been believers long enough to discern the difference between the truth and heresy to also open themselves up to false teachers who truly DO hold to WOF doctrines. (While it's not exactly the same ... it would make no sense to promote yourself as a Catholic Priest if you truly were Assembly of God would it?)

Being Charismatic and being Pentecostal are not synonymous with WOF. While I would disagree with these types of doctrines I know that they are not heretical. WOF is not a whole doctrinal system, just a set of doctrines having to do with a false and heretical understanding of the essence of faith, and because of this changes a whole bunch of other doctrines which are essential to the truth of the Christian faith into something which is heretical.

I really wish people could see how dangerous this is. And while people like to harp on the money issue, to me that makes very little difference if some pastor thinks he should be rich. That is what the world will point at, but that is not what will lead people who don't know Christ to hell if they submit themselves to the Christ of WOF.

WOF-not to be confused with WWF, though both are just as bogus. Though WWF takes some skill and training :emot-crying:

Why the taped mouth? You already said it! :emot-crying:

I have spoken out against the WOF movement but decided to bite my tongue for a while. I think God was teaching me a very good lesson last Sunday. I decided to stay home from the first hour of church and listen to Adrian Rogers but before his show came on there was this wonderful local speaker on that I had never heard of! He really captivated me and everything he spoke was scriptural, without a doubt!

I was thanking God that he had led me to listen to this particular television sermon and right after I said that, the pastor mentioned that he was part of the WOF movement. I was stunned. I was also feeling a bit guilty that I had lumped all WOF into one lump of heresy.

In every denomination there are problems and pastors who take wayward paths. I clearly believe God was telling me to be aware and be alert, but be careful with the harshness of my words. I believe strongly in uncovering false doctrine but I worry more about tearing down a man of God who is still growing and learning as the rest of us are.

Sorry about the rabbit trail.

WOF=Word of Faith

I do apologize for the sarcasm. But I wasn't disparaging any individual. I was referring to the teaching itself. :emot-crying:

I look at it this way.....who was the most perfect man that ever lived? who had the deepest faith? who loved God with a perfect love?

Was Jesus rich?

Were the Apostles?

Were the great saints and martyrs?

As usual, the Christian Research Institute has something to say...I think this is very much worth the read. "What's Wrong with the Word-Faith Movement?"

I need to say something here!

I was under the teaching of one of the ministers you spoke of for 61/2 years. During this time it was solid good teaching and I thank God for where He sent me! But all of a sudden and I have now been able to see when it happened the teaching became mostly about getting (blessed for giving) money. God for a year was preparing me to leave and for a year I was itching to get off of that pew. I knew He was going to send me somewhere else but in His timing. Well I still didn't see that this "money" doctrine was "wrong" but I did give I believe in the wrong spirit. That is what is wrong with this doctrine. It isn't wrong to give the money but it is wrong not to just give joyfully. Not because I want to get out of debt or I need a new car or house. Like someone said earlier they preach a good word when it is biblically sound but when they get on this money thing it is dangerous ground. Hey that ryhmed :emot-crying: Anyway the timing was perfect when I did leave He had ready for me to help start an Open Pantry here close where I live. We have our own morning services on Sunday for the community in which we serve. Oh and guess what, we aren't rich, in fact we do need more donations, but you know what He always does provide in His way. Just like when Jesus walked this earth He always had His provisions met, Amen :emot-crying:

I think the reason people have "success" with the WOF movement is that they think they are believing opportunities into existence, when really, it's just that they're looking more carefully for the opportunities that are already there. People tend to see what they want to see, and when you want to see the Word of Faith working for you, you read it into situations.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
