Okay, okay...backpeddal, backpeddal, backpeddal....

Nicholas, I am sincerely sorry for any offense that my last post caused you. I thought you were being sarcastic, so I attacked sarcasm with sarcasm. The Bible tells me not to repay evil for evil, which I have done here. Please forgive me.

You are still wrong about the definition of Nicholas. Nicholas is an english translation from the greek name Nikolaos. Nike(VICTORY not victor) and lous(people).

Dr. Luke those scriptures do not denouce religion. The pharisees were misinterpreting there scriptures trying to prove Christ wrong, just like many protestants misinterpreting scripture trying to prove Catholicism wrong.

is religion more important than God?

Could religion become an idol?

Is tradition more important than Scripture?

Is Mary more important that Jesus?

Is there any man infallible other than Christ our Lord?

Has God bestowed infallibility upon any man alive.....ever?

Are you willing to search these answers out relying only on Scripture?

Are you willing to listen to us present our thoughts, or are you here only to bash us? (Something which is violently discouraged in your forum)

Are you able to see us (trying to) reach out to you in love? Trying to find a common denominator, so we can gain headway in this talk?

Are you going to ignore these honest questions?

Will you answer them in your own words? Or will you use the words of a long dead priest, father, bishope(sp) or anything else?

Bless you,

Nicholas,

What is more important?

Your religion or Christ?

I try to prove nothing wrong. I have called you brother.

Truth is not self evident. G-d is Truth!

Neither am I Protestant nor Catholic.

I count myself a brother in Christ Jesus!

A chosen son of G-d! Not by anything I've done. But because when G-d looks at me He see's His Son. The one in whom he is well pleased.

It doesn't say Dave anymore above my sealed forehead. My name is blotted out by blood. It now says Jesus!

Jesus says," Father here is one you've given me. Accept him into your house." I say," Jesus I'm afraid leave a man such as me." He says," Shhh! Do not be afraid!" " You are one of mine!"" I will shepherd you!"

Thank you Jesus! Bless you Jesus! I praise your Holy name. I sing in Glory to your Righteousness!

Bless you ,

Dave

oh, a thought occured to me, nicholas.....

Are you learned in the tactics for debate?

I see that you and Douay use two tactics almost exclusively in your posts.

One is called "begging the question" This refers to asking a question in such a way as to leave the responder without a viable answer. Any answer he gives will make him seem like a fool, and his stance/side of the debate/opinion will be easily refuted upon receipt of the answer...whatever it is.

The second one is called "Straw-Man Tactics." This speaks of taking someones arguement, and twisting it in such a way as to make it easily knowcked down.

You last post was the second one dealing with the Scripture references Dr. Luke gave. By refusing to accept Scripture plainly obvious, and casting your interpretation on it, you twisted his words and then had no problem refuting them as irrelevant...easily dismissed. This, my friend, does not boad well for you. If you stand on the side of Biblical Truth, then there should be no need for such slight of hand tactics as these. In the presentation of your arguement, there should be no room for anyone to counter you.

Of course, since we don't all agree on the authority of Scripture, we have a long way to go before we find common ground to stand on. So until we can find something agreeable between the opposing sides, I am afraid this discussion will continue in much the same way as it has these last few days.

If you are unwilling to see things in a different light (ie Scriptural), and since we don't agree with tradition being placed above the Word of God, I am sure you can see the problem created in trying to talk about our views.

to say that we are nothing short of pharasees is spiteful, shameful, and not in keeping with the Spirit of Christ, which is ruled by Love. Unconditoinal, I might add.

To label us as heretics is to close our ears to whatever you have to say.

As you REQUIRE in your forums, (no flaming), we simply ask the same respect be shown here. You are not on home turf. You need to play by our rules now. And I am sure there is an equal rule for Worthy Boards...I just don't have it in front of me.

farewell

~your servant in Christ

P.S. Nicholas, one final question.....

Are you willing to play by the rules?

Personally, I think that evangelicals are pretty hard on the Catholics and a lot of it is witch hunting type stuff like saying the pope is the antichrist and Rome is Babylon the whore. In my mind that stuff is nonsense. In reality there is much more that we have in common than what divides us if we choose to accept that. Catholics do love Jesus Christ and do many wonderful Christian works around the globe. The word is preached and seeds planted wherever the Catholic church is. True they don't have the same kind of conversion experience as that of evangelicals but that little seed of faith they have planted have kept millions looking to Christ and many have had born again experiences. I look at it like even if they don't understand the gospels exactly the same way I do, nevertheless Christ is preached, and He IS preached in the Catholic church.

Philippians 1:15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:

Philippians 1:16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:

Philippians 1:17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.

Philippians 1:18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

Luke 9:49 And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.

Luke 9:50 And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.

I think all who believe in Christ should try a lot harder to dwell on our points of agreement, of which there are many, in order that the Lord be glorified and the bretheren strengthened.

Titus 3:8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

Titus 3:9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

If the original thread is not in the trash, please reconsider bringing it back...I think we could all learn something.

FOR EVERYONE - PLEASE - WE CANNOT BE AN OCCASION FOR SIN FOR OTHERS! No matter what the injustice - we should not be an occasion of sin for others!!!!!!!! Catholics here and non-Catholics alike should show proper respect for each other.

Sometimes it may seem like a ping-pong match BUT try to search out Christ in each of us.

If God's love is shining in you, then it will show! If CHrist's love is not shining through - don't post right away. Take time and think about THE WAY you present your thoughts.

Please reconsider bringing it back. A healthy disussion on our differences is good and everyone can glean something from it.

Can we try to be Christ for each other?

Christ tells us you know a tree by its fruit. Humility and charity should be first and foremost! Are these not traits of a christian????????????????????

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
