I don't mean to speak for cats, but I can say that Munari (a brother) has a soft searching heart. He listens. He interacts, not just, as cats says, cuts and pastes.

I do not post in the Catholic threads normally, but I do read them. Over the last nearly two years, I have observed that no ground is given from either side. Ever. And the threads always are reduced to name calling or character slamming. Why is it that the worst of the debates are usually between the Catholics and protestants? Why do we not continually search our hearts and keep our eyes on Jesus in this issue? Why?

We are to lift up His name, and bring honor to Him. We are to edify the Body of Christ and be here for support and encouragement for our fellow brothers and sisters. Instead, we attack each other. How very gracious of all of us. Aren't we truly something for our Saviour to be proud of.

Angeledei, Douay, Nicholas:

I don't believe it's against your religion to follow the scriptures. If it is not, then try this. This verse was posted on another thread, and it seems particularly fitting at moment to remember this promise from God.

It's found in James 1:

5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

Let's just pray.

You appear to have a "literary" challenge and trouble in basic reading comprehension.

The only way you can respond is by showing your contentious spirit and once again attacking others.

The post above you clearly states that I don't have a problem with other Catholics...only the ones who've come to THIS board and stir of strife.

O.K. now we'll look at the one above.

I have told them the Truth ....plain truth - scripture in context. But they refuse to acknowledge scripture in it's infallibility and resort to the Roman Catholic Catechism as their holy book.

This was an inflammatory remark based on it's incorrect assessment of the situation. We argued constantly according to the scriptures.

These are not interested in truth, as revealed in scripture. They are the spirit of contention, bored with their own website, they come to bring division and chaos.

This is a personal and inflammatory comment as well, if I showed such behavior it was from the contention portrayed by you.

But these speak evil of whatever they do not know; and whatever they know naturally, like brute beasts, in these things they corrupt themselves.

Here, you compare us to the heretics depicted in Jude, call us evil, and the like. How dare you call others contentious.

You say that you have no problem with OTHER Catholics just us, because we follow the Catechism? So Catholics who don't know their religion or voice their convictions and try to explain their viewpoints and what they hold to be truth to the best of their knowledge are ok by you, but not us because we do those things.

Whoops....thought munari was a sister...

I found no profit in the "debates" I had in the past with munari or the other Catholic in that fourm (Forgot his/ her name now. It's been so long). I found myself coming to Worthy every morning going straight to the Cath./ Prot. forum and opening threads to see the latest argument. Then I would spend hours researching the web to find ammunition against the RC; and believe me, I found plenty. That forum fed my natural desire for argumentation! It fed my flesh! I lost more time at work, found myself coming in on weekends just to contend with the Catholics. Most of the ime I found myself spinning my wheels, not convincing anybody of anything. It was frustrating! George once told me - truthfully - that I was trying to teach a Catholic about Catholicism. I realized that he was right! You can't teach a Catholic about Catholicism - even when you know in your heart that these teachings are wrong, and against the Bible. The discussions go around, and around, and around.

Does anyone honestly believe that they can accomplish what Protestants have not done in a couple thousand years of refuting Catholic dogma? Do Catholics actually believe that they can likewise once and for all find the golden lynchpion that will finally unravel Protestantism forever? Do we believe that this can be accomplished here on Worthy? Maybe it can, but call me doubting Thomas anyway.

I think that our focus on the old forum was wrong. We can refute Catholic dogma until our breath runs out. But we know that the essential need of every man is Christ Jesus. So why not share Christ with each other? Saints of God, I have learned a huge lesson here; but I am not one to say that I always practice what I preach, so take this as you will. But I do not want to be for anyone or any thing but Christ Himself. I am not for any religion, ritual, rite, dogma, doctrine, teaching, or man. I am for Jesus Christ. I think that we all could stand to be brought to this place.

Catholics and Protestants alike: Consider yourselves before the throne of grace, for that is where we stand. If you cannot say with 100% certainty that you are for Christ alone, and not for anything else, then a serious spiritual check is in order.

Much grace,

~G

One simple question, Douay...

Why did you come to an evangelical site? What was your agenda in coming here?

Artsylady,

So now you call us unwise? Fickle as the breeze are we? Are we to believe what you say unblinkingly because you obviously possess all truth? I assume you must be wise yourself, the most wise said that those who hold themselves in the most high esteem are the most foolish, at least according to the most renowned scholars of all time.

I think this was a quote from Scripture and not a comment made by artslady herself. I thought you were striving for a respectful discussion?

....were getting close to ending this thread.

This is a great point, G-m, and one that gets confused. My opinion is that many seem to think that throwing an allegiance to a church is to align oneself with Christ. Not necessarily true...this is something I learned early in my walk.

To claim allegiance and defense of a denominational set of beliefs is not always standing up for Jesus Christ. Many doctrines of the church were developed by men and some did not come from the scriptures, but instead by twisted interpretation or a "vision from God". We need to stand up Him, not an institution. Christ promised the church (the Body of Christ) would overcome. Not every church member will overcome...only those who are truly His will.

No god-man, that was a comment directed to myself, Nicholas, and Angeledei. Hiding behind scripture is not a valid excuse, anyone can find a passage out of the Bible and use it as a direct attack on someone else. It may as well have been in her own words. That is how it was intended and how it was received, I can't think of any other way I should have taken it.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
