Works reflect faith. If we do not nurture ourselves by following after Christ in obedience, then our faith becomes sick and can starve to death. Works reflect that, but it is not about works.

So...faith reflects our works....but our works affect our faith? Again, you can't escape this view without going back to a works based salvation.

I will never say that---you are reading into it. Works reflect our faith and trust in the Saviour.

Matthew 18: 21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?

22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

If we truly repent, then our sins will not hinder our salvation. I believe it is all about maintaining a relationship with God.

We are truly saved or we never were.

Man if thats your idea on what our lives are about, i am glad i don't serve your God. My God expects me to go about the fathers work, not sit around and conjure up some sin that might send a soul to hell. I am not worried about sins as they were paid for, all i have to do is avoid sin, and quite frankly, their all listed so I don't have to learn new ones.

What a miserable life that is having to live in fear 24 x 7 x 365 days all your life worrying about losing your salvation.

Life of a christian is not about misery! Jesus came to free us from misery!

Usually people make conclusions or statements like this when they really don't know what their bible is all about. The purpose of the bible is to teach us of our sins and how to avoid them. WOW, what a concept. People would know this if they actually studied and understood the bible.

Interesting, and I must assume by your post that you think i don't study. You apparantly know my comings and goings!

The purpose of the bible is nothing more than to present truth in which we weigh our daily lives against.

And I reiterate that Christ according to the bible, did not come to make our lives miserable! He came to give us freedom.

Churches have declared that christians are supposed to be miserable, and I for one do not recognize the authority of any Church over the christian. Jesus christ is the only authority over christians.

We answer directly to him not some church that thinks were not suffering enough.

If you fall out of fellowship with God, and abandon relationship with Him, He cannot fulfill His will in you to complete His plan for you. You need to be a participant.

So we're more powerful than God and our works save us.

Sweetheart! It is not about works...it is about obedience.

If I violate a commandment, and lose my salvation, then my works negated my salvation.

Then by your own admission Jesus christ and God are not able to save us or keep us secure.

People who were once believers, though weak in faith, who become apostatic, and partake in the sins that separate from the kingdom, will indeed become separate from the kingdom. Violation of a commandment does not separate, unless it is done with an unrepentant heart and in purposeful repitition. It's called betrayal. Judas did it.

Which means, if we don't keep the commandments on a consistent basis, i.e. continue to work, then we will lose our salvation. Ergo, our salvation is not dependent upon our faith, but instead upon our works. No matter how you try to word it, it will always come back to this point. If continually sinning causes our salvation to be void, then our salvation is dependent upon our works.

What if you simply lost your faith then?

How does one lose that which does not belong to him?

Who said it doesn't belong to that person? Faith cometh byhearing, and hearing by the word of God. When a person hears, that becomes theirs. It is freely given to them and becomes their personal belonging/property.

apothanein,

If you have 1st of all faith, then you will automaticaly do the good works, out of a good heart; they are intertwined. kinda like breathing without thinking about it. You will want to do the good works ,it will give you a great since of joy to do good for others, knowing that you are pleasing the father. Pleasing the Christ will be your first prioity .if you don't really believe you will sin on a consistant basis. because you don't fear God enough to obey His commandments. And your top prioity is not pleasing the father but pleasing the lusts of the flesh.

If this is your condition Repent ( which means knowing that you are a sinner, and that you don't deserve heaven; ask forgiveness, then ask the Lord to take away your sin) For the scriptures says ( Greater is He that is within me then He that is in the world; resist the devil and he will flee). another scripture says ( It is not His will(Gods) that any will perish).

After you ask forgiveness of the sin your involved in, stay away from anything that temps you to sin again, pray, read your word, worship Him, give him thanks.

Then the Lord will work in you to actually change the areas that need changing; this is where sanctification comes in; we can't do it ( Change our carnal mind) ie dirty thoughts, evil desires, bad habits. The Holy Spirit has to change these. And yes sometimes you will slip up (sin) all christians do. it is the waring of our flesh against the spirit. but after this happens turn and repent right away, and God will forgive you.

God Bless

Bob

Sweetheart! It is not about works...it is about obedience.

This is what people are not understanding. Our works is our obedience. Everytime I obey something in the bible it is a work.

The bible speaks of good works and bad works. Here are the bad works -

Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

These works will send us to hell.

The good works are our obedience to obstain, repent, and not give into temptation to these.

On judgement day we will be judged by our works. Did I live my life doing good works or bad works?

Revelation 20:12-13 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

If your standing in front of the Great white throne judgement, then works are the least of your concern.

this is day of judgment of the dead. They will be judged and cast into hell

I am not going to stand before the Great White Throne Judgment. I am going to stand before God at the Bema Seat! My works for Christ will be noted there.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
