Billie, I know this might sound like a silly question, but why does it seem more logical that God could come from nothing or always have existed, than that the universe could come from nothing or always have existed? As far as I can tell, these are both theories which would be, scientifically speaking, beyond our normal concept of phsyics to a certain extent, and both require belief in the idea that either one thing could be eternal or that something could come from nothing. So why is God more logical than the Big Bang? :red_smile:

Yes, scientifically speaking, science has no explanation as to where all this came from, or if it came from anything. That's a very good point.

I'm not sure if God is more logical for everyone. He's waaaaayyyyyyy more logical to me, just because of the experiences I've had with Him. That kind of thing can't be reproduced in a lab.

The point of my post was, I was being asked to "respect the logic behind" something which is totally illogical, abiogenisis. It's never happened. Scientists have tried to make it happen, and they can't. Life doesn't come from "no-life".

To go farther and say, "So the only logical conclusion is for everyone to accept that there's a God! Harrumph!" Well, I can't prove that one to anyone else, but He's proven it to me, numerous occasions.

BTW, hey, Eve! :b::wub:

Hi everyone. I don't usually post in this forum (for a variety of reasons)- but this time I thought I would.

For me, I know I'm not gonna be here when y'all wake up one day to find all the Christians have disappeared. But I would imagine it would be chaotic and extremely scary. Even though you guys think you'd be all logical and understanding- you won't be. You'll be frantic to find out what happened...and once you find out what happened, you're going to want to be with us. After all...it is heaven :emot-hug:

I am praying for all the "nonbelievers". You have no idea how amazing it is to have a relationship with Christ...and I suspect that you have thought about it since youve joined worthyboards. You care about it enough to debate it...so methinks you might just be a little curious about what it would be like to live the Christian life. And I have news for you: ITS AWESOME!

If you are thinking about changing your life...and you want to become a better person and live the life you've always dreamed of...I encourage you to learn more about Jesus. Believing in the love and sacrifice of Jesus Christ is the best thing you'll ever do...and I'm praying that today SOMEONE, ANYONE...will be curious enough to seek more knowledge. As always you can PM me and I'd be free to talk with you about anything and everything.

Blessings,

Sierra

(PS- my apologies Billie for getting slightly off topic).

Hi Sierra! From what I've seen of your posts, I think you'd be an interesting person to talk to - however, I don't know if you know, but nonbelievers have no PM-ing privileges - we did for a little while (at least, we did when I first came to Worthy) but the mods were getting concerned with the idea that we were talking to Christians unsupervised, and therefore potentially planting seeds of doubt. Or something like that. :) So if you're interesting in talking one on one to any of us, or if you want any of us to come talk to you, it'll have to happen either on the Boards themselves or by one or both of you providing an email address.

As for me, I like hearing from people, so mine's in my signature - I get spam anyway, so a little more can't hurt! :)

Hi Billie! :thumbsup::wub:

I hadn't seen the previous posts re ambiogensis, so sorry if my reply was out of context. Basically, I know why God is more logical to you and why the Big Bang is more logical to me - because we already believe in the respective evidence which supports these theories. Of course we're more inclined to trust in theory what we already trust as fact! I only wanted to say that when you remove both theories from other evidence or contexts or feelings (what we might already believe, the Bible, scientific research) and simply look at them as ideas for how the universe came into being, human knowledge is so limited that both opinions are equally logical. Each requires us to accept that we don't fully understand physics, and each requires us to believe that either one thing can have always existed, or that something can come from nothing, be it God or the universe. In that purely abstract sense, each theory is as likely as the other. See? :)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
