It follows a predictable pattern in this type of election, so despite what the pony-tailed, Birk wearing, rope smokering and war protesters on Geritol are saying...it's not all about Iraq. Besides which, not much is going change despite who is "in charge," since thankfully this was a not national election. I think last night actually will work in favor of the Republicans in '08, since, in fact, if you notice the Democrats that got elected in many of the races looked more like moderate Republicans than members of their own party. And chapmac, what the heck were saying, dude??

The Communist party didn't even run a lot of candidates this year, and instead simply asked everybody to vote Democrat. Do you think the party of partial birth abortion, and Communism is God's way? I think rather the election of liberals is a measure of how backslidden Christians in America have become........

Is this the direction the democrats want to go? I believe the Republicans were given a very stinging reminder. . .do not take your electorate for granted. I say, let's give the democrats a couple of years to really mess things up, then the Republicans will be back, stronger than ever and will gain enough power to override any fillibuster Ted Kennedy and his cronies attempt. Yep, as I have said before, I think the Republicans succeeded in squandering the last 12 years. They've outspent Democrats, backpeddled on their Contract With America and absolutely took their core for granted. I agree with your assertion that this should serve as a wake up call to all Republicans. As far as what Geri said: Surely the democrats have some redeeming qualities. I know the republicans are not squeaky clean. I believe voting for one party or another is simply a vote for personal priorities. Individual Democrats do indeed have redeeming qualities. Harold Ford, Jr., the Democrat from TN who lost, is a fine man, as is Joe Lieberman. The problem is not with the individual, but with the party; it's a dangerous party with dangerous ideas, a socialist agenda and motivated by secularism. And Republicans are not sinnless, either, but the party planks are generally closer to Christian values. But you are right about people voting according to "personal priorities." That should never be a reason to vote; a vote should be cast in the best interest of the entire country (excluding the local races, of course). Oh well, we are all experts on the day after. Either way, the sun will come up this morning, tilting slightly to the left, though.
