TUBAL-CAIN,

not even bothering to re-examine your over-all stance, your one statement alone about how "one should stay true to himself/herself, " shows one of the points missing from your argument. one should stay true to the Lord Jesus, and the gospel he gave us, and the salvation he gifted to us. the emergent churches are denying the deity of Jesus, through the same reasoning you are attempting to use here.

why would a christian need to get a lesson in morality from an immoral format, such as the plot this movie seems to have? we must choose whom we will follow, the world, hence satan, or the Lord and his salvation. does someone watch such shows as "sex in the city" to discover what that lifestyle is about, good or bad? desperate housewives, a show that maligns women and legitimate housewives, do you watch that to see how disgusting being unfatihful to your mate is? isn't that something a christian should already know?

or do people watch it for the titilation. the tease? why would someone watch little miss sunshine? for a lesson in morality. whatever is intimated in movies will be seen as alright for the masses. it will be seen as truth by the young. the message you proclaim is not what will be received. it will inspire wrong thinking and immoral acts. yes, the days of wholesome tv are pretty much gone. entertainment is not what it once was. can you say the world is better for it? answer according to whom you wish to follow into eternity. because you just might.

the bible is the christian moral compass. not hollywood. if you proclaim to be a christian, how can you criticize another christian for insisting on the morality that our Lord teaches, in his word? not what hollywood decides to teach society.

the thing is i have finally learned is, i don't need your approval or hollywoods approval, certainly not the approval of the aclu or the democratic party. i don't have to be politically correct, as a matter of fact i am not. what i do have to be is acceptable to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. his holy word will guide me there. the holy spirit tells me what i should do and what i should not do. if this is unpalatable to you as a christian i suggest you spend more time in Gods' word with a good teacher, instead of defending what is indefensible.

If you haven't seen the movie, then don't make such harsh judgments. It's one of the most "pro-family" films to come out in years, by the way! It's this insane, loserish, flawed family who winds up realizing how important they are to one another through the course of the movie. The so-called "pedophilia" scene is just about the opposite - it's an over-the-top way of critiquing the whole child pageant culture, showing how ridiculous early sexualization of children actually is by having this plain, chubby little girl gyrate on stage in competitiion with coiffed and made up little princesses. The family sees the ridiculousness and so joins her on stage, both amplifying the strangeness (and hilarity) and putting childhood back into the context of the family. Anyway, it's a great, quirky movie, and it was one of my favorites this year. I about fell out of my seat during that scene when I saw it in theaters.

And so, seeing a young child in that film doing what he saw her doing is not worth judging righteously?

It is worth judging righteously once you know all the facts. If you don't know all the facts then you can't judge righteously.

We all should know sin when we see it..have we become so enured by it that we accept something like that and rush to defend a film company before taking the word of a righteous man? Huh!

I would certainly take the words of someone who watched the whole movie over someone who just looks up and gets the wrong impression.

There is a way to parody culture without going too far. I would not parody the rap culture by walking around with women on a leash because that would go too far.

I wasn't making an argument, I was just clarifying what the Catholic reviewer appeared to be referring to when he mentioned family values.

one should stay true to the Lord Jesus, and the gospel he gave us, and the salvation he gifted to us.

And as a Christian I would assume that staying true to yourself would by definition also be staying true to Christ, correct? These are not necessarily competing loyalties.

why would a christian need to get a lesson in morality from an immoral format, such as the plot this movie seems to have?

No one said that a Christian would need to get a lesson in morality from a movie. The point was merely that there are positive family values in Little Miss Sunshine.

if you proclaim to be a christian, how can you criticize another christian for insisting on the morality that our Lord teaches, in his word?

I haven't criticized your moral viewpoints. I've criticized you for getting the facts wrong about the movie. Those who say that the movie contains pornography or pedophilia are bearing false witness. Those who judge a movie they have not seen and apparently don't understand are not in a position to judge truthfully. You can attack the movie but do so with the truth, not with your misconceptions about it.

I make it a habit to judge all movies without having seen them! That is good! It is called discernment. It works well.

Ray Comfort, Kirk Cameron and EZ are in a great position to be able to judge righteously. Their lives are a testament to Christ. When a man with lots of spiritual fruit says something, I listen to him.

What you are describing is an educated guess as to the contents of the movie. Such guesses can often be wrong and inaccurate.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
