EFT Emotional freedom techniques

have you ever heard of EFT

i would like to know other peoples opinions on this topic... EFT is a method of helping people with emotional and fisical problems by using meridians (lines on the body that is used with acupuncture) to replace energy that the body has lost due to emotional stress.... this is the best way i can describe it but if you would like more info go to *edit link* that is their website..... any comments...???

I kinda think it's codswallop. It may very well work on a chemical/hormonal level (for instance, being massaged/touched somehow in those places may release endorphins), but I don't think it's releasing or redirecting "energy". I think that's superstitious nonsense concocted by a culture before the culture was advanced enough to know about how the body works.

Sounds a bit new agey to me. Doesnt sound scripturally sound to "harness" the body's energy.

I agree i sounds a bit dodgy to me as well.... but the thing is i cant find anything in the scriptures that says the contrary???

Well, this particular brand of acupuncture doesn't hold a lot of water. In the cases where it has been "effective," one can easily argue that the feeling of emotional freedom had little to do with undergoing EFT. The practice of EFT incorporates deep breathing exercises as well as tapping certain meridian points. Deep breathing has a calming effect, no doubt, but this is not something unique to EFT.

When reviewing holistic medicine practices, you need to keep in mind that the practioners are out there to "make a buck." A lot of their techniques are either bogus altogether, or add a lot of extraneous nonsense to the age-old practice of taking a few deep breaths or whatever.

If you look through some of the more mainstream medical journals, you will see that a lot of these types of treatments are thought of as pure nonsense by the majority of the medical community.

Pixy: This is exactly what they tell you in the manual.... that people will look at this with disgust... the trouble with the "making a buck" idea is this is absolutly free. they talk about reseting your polar cells of energy... whatever that means ... i have found some cross reference in phsycology manuals about resetting your energy... the person who wrote this is an ordaind minister, i even recieved it from a close friend ( the pastor who administered my baptism) but i would like to know other christians' opinions 'cause nowere in this manual does it refer to GOD or that the healing comes from him, it sounds dodgy, it rather focuses on tapping the points and healing yourself????? don't you agree that GOD heals all ailments, and that you are not healed by man????

I don't believe that I said anything that would contradict that fact that God heals us? I've reread my post and still don't see where you're getting that from. Perhaps you could be more specific, so I could edit my post to clarify my position on this matter?

And, no, not all holistic medicine practices are free. Most providers charge for their services.

Also, just because an ordained minister wrote about it, doesn't mean that it's a proven method at dealing with emotional stress. With all due respect, there are many ministers who aren't walking with the Lord, and don't have a lot of wisdom. We need to remember to use God's Word as the standard, not a minister's writings or teachings.
