We are called to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to EVERY CREATURE. Knowing Jesus Christ, we do know what happens when we die. That is the truth. The question is: Do you want to live eternally in glory, or eternally be tormented? God gives us a free choice. It's not His will that any go to torment, but He is determined that we choose freely. Our job as His kids, is to offer that choice.

Well this was kinda my point. Have you died? Do you have scientific evidence of what happens after we die? No, you follow what the Bible says about what happens after we die. Did you know that many books were actually left out of the Bible because they were written by "heretics". One of these books is known as jubilees and another as enoch. However, they appear in the Bibles in some African nations.

Furthermore, does anyone here know how it was decided which books to include in the "official" Bible?

As for the quote from the Urey, I have this verse:

"Jhn 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed [are] they that have not seen, and [yet] have believed. "

And as to "why do beleivers feel the need to convert everyone they know"... only God saved the soul.. but htis is our command:

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Why? Because:

Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned

The penalty for sin is death.. which is an enternity in the lake of fire and hell.. "where the worm dieth not and fire is not quenched"... we don't want people to go there and it is our call to go out and tell others about it.. and preach "Chrisit crucified and risen from the dead"... show people that we are condemned to hell by our sin, but becuse Jesus died and rose again from teh dead the third day, we can have eternal life, which is a "forever" in heaven...

Interesting verse to quote about to counter what Urey said. That was after Jesus's crucifixtion I believe. My point was that where we have in the past expected to find answers or God himself he have found nothing. I wonder if this will continue to be true once we die. I know the verse where people were told to preach to every living creature and the one about everyone has sinned. Of course, "sinning" is according to your religious beliefs. Someone practicing other religions may disagree. Logically, why do you feel your beliefs are correct and others are wrong? I have found many people are so afraid of the possibility of eternal torment they will believe anything. Religion, Government, love, etc based on fear is not true belief or acceptance but rather a desire to protect oneself. Governments based on fear eventually crumble.

You forgot the verse about brimstone that is in revelations I believe.

How do you know people will truly go there? Because the Bible says it? I was a christian once too, but after being ridiculed, insulted, ignored, and otherwise treated quite badly in every christian setting I've been in just for asking questions I have taken a more logical approach to religion. Believing a book that offers no evidence doesn't make sense to me.

Thank you for your complete and kind answer.

Strange to quote a Communist who probably at the point of a gun had the statement written for him.

Who is Jesus Christ Maguschris?

Peace,

Dave

lol quite strange indeed. No i am no communist or anything of the nature.

In the christian belief jesus is the son of God born from the virgin mary sent to redeem the world from sin if we accept him as our savior. Crucified on the cross, only to rise 3 days later. Which is another question I've always had. there are 2 resurrection stories. In one the women go to Jesus tomb where they are met by and angel sitting on the rock which has been moved and his body gone. The angel said rejoice he has risen or something liek that. In the other story there is a farmer and some of Jesus's discipes see him. I forget now if they were coming back from the tomb or if they were goin to the tomb. But the farmer was Jesus himself.

So which one is the "real" story, if either.

thank you for your patience

Chris, I would very much appreciate it if you would not hijack this thread and take it in another direction. You are welcome to post these questions in another forum. Please.

Trying to get back on topic.

Crystal,

Has any of this helped you? It has helped me a great deal. I do pray more often for my unsaved family members. It still feels a bit strange to consider them "sinners" but they are and they need my prayer.

 Bib

I was in chat the other night and got into a discussion with someone... does it seem difficult for anybody else to pray for someone in say their family that is really close to them.. in the sense of salvation? I know for the past eight years, it seems easier to pray for anybody else to get saved, but my family. Any thoughts?

Crystal

Crystal, you are right on!

When I was a child, I could pray for anyone. When I became an adult, I often had to fight the internal static interfering with my pleas before The Throne. This static can be horrific with loved ones, especially ones who harmed us a a child.

I believe as I see The One Sitting on The Throne more clearly, it is much more easy for me, am unworthy bagger, to plea for another unworthy one.

Another thing that helps me center on my Lord and forget anything I hold against another is "He who is forgiven much, forgives much!" and "All sin is against God"

Hey Bib and everyone else,

Oh how much this has been helping.. I never realized until talking to Biblicist that I wasn't the only one who had this problem.. I just kind of always looked over it as nothing, and I guess it kind of explains why I haven't prayed for my family as much as I should... even though I know it is right.. it seems it shoudl be easier to pray for those that you care about....

Praying and thanking God first for others salvations seems like such a great idea! Nothing to mention using verses, and talking to people.. in fact, I know most of my church is praying for my family's salvation.. they have been for years....

lately, I've been trying to pray for them.. or at least the past so many months... and it is amazing how much God has been working... He is so good.. my pastor keeps telling me my dad is close to salvation...

and that scares me. The thought just doesn't seem possible and it makes me want to cry... I see my dad's stubborness and I take my eyes off the all powerfulness of God.. He can do it... how? dont' ask me.. Id ont know.. but HE can...

Thank you everyone oh so very much :whistling:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
