To decide not to associate with someone because of their actions is not the same as judging whether or not they are saved.

So then what do you do about:

1 Corinthians 5:11 But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolator or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.

Are you arguing with scripture?

There is a difference between one who backslides and comits such a sin and one who practices such things.

Yep, all of us will backslide once in a while, after all, we are failable human beings. A person who has faith in the blood Jesus shed for them, will also have faith in God's ways. This is apparent by wether or not they believe God's ways are best. Therefore, you cannot be pro-choice and saved, you cannot go on to torture living beings, practice homosexuality with no intention of ever changing and be a true brother or sister in Christ. I obey not to earn salvation but in the same way I have faith in the blood Jesus shed for my sins, I have faith that noone loves me more than the one who created me, God is truly my Heavenly Father, he is a parent and a God to me, and he knows what is best for me, and I have faith in that so I obey. If a person truly has faith in what Jesus did for us, then a person has faith that God knows what is best for us and believes God's commands are still relevant. By the way, not to say I am perfect, only God is perfect and that is why I need to look to him. We should treat Jesus as our very best friend and our lives should reflect that. He deserves no less.

If a brother is simply caught in a sin, we should restore him gently, if a brother goes on to blatantly sin and show no remorse and refuse to look to God and his ways, then we should not even associate with him anymore.

Flo,

Just because YOU dont see the good works, it doesnt mean they are not being done.

I tried to make that point a few pages back.

Matthew 7:15-29 "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

Your point???

Nope. I'm involved in a lively, interesting discussion focused on the interpretation of Scripture.

And when you posted this, do you realize it sounded almost like you are agreeing that judgement does need to be made wether or not they are saved?

That's probably because I don't think it IS up to me to decide whether or not someone is saved. My calling is to preach the Gospel and live as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

It was said in an earlier post: "Just because YOU dont see the fruit, it doesnt mean there is none to see." The scripture here contradicts that plus what I quoted originally. The bible tells us that by their fruit we WILL recognize wether or not if they are with or without the Spirit of Truth.

Romans

14. For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

15. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.

16. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.

17. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

Maybe you missed the part where this passage refers specifically to false prophets---not plain ole sinners. :emot-hug:

It can be extrapolated to include all those who are called by the name of Jesus. We can use the same criteria to discern if anyone is of God.

What is this in response to specifically and could you please give both chapter and the verse?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
