2 Peter 1:18-21 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Men did not give us the Bible, nor was man given charge over it to interpret as he sees fit. The Word of God was not man's fruit, it is God's and it is a more sure word of prophecy than even God's voice that came down from Heaven to Jesus, Elijah and Moses on the mount when Peter and John were there. If God were to speak to a man or religious leader today, it would not be more of and authority than God's written Word, the Bible. The papacy, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons and Islam would have you believe otherwise, because they find their authority in exta-biblical words of prophecy, but believe them not. Let God be true and every man a liar.

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

That word 'moved' is the same as the word for 'let drive' used in Acts 27:15 when the Bible says, "And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive." It means that the ship was let to fall under the power, authority and exact movements that the wind wanted to take it. These holy men of God that were used to give us the Scriptures let themselves to be moved or let driven of the Holy Ghost. The Bible was mechanically dictated and verbally insprired of God to write the exact words of God. The Bible is the final and only authority for faith and practice for the Christian. If there is any other authority it is a false autority.

Furthermore, Anyone who says that true Bible believers are "Bible worshipers", let me set this straight now for you. Anyone who follows the Bible as the ONLY authority for faith and practice is a Bible follower when it says in John 4:23-24, "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." For the Bible says in John 17:17, "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." 2 Timothy 2:15 says, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." If any man is to say he worships God, he must worship in spirit (all your heart, soul, mind, strength) and in truth (according to the Scriptures.)

Someone one these boards has said, "The bible was made for man, not man for the bible. That would be a perversion of God. God did not die for a book. He died for man, he put his spirit in man, man is the temple of God, NOT A BOOK. Spiritually inspired man have authority over a spiritually inspired book written by man. God goes to man first, not paper." Some of this I have addressed above and not with my words, but with Scripture. Here is the rest...

Psalm 119:89

For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

Psalm 119:160

Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.

The Bible is not a 'book' that was made for man, the Bible is God's truth from eternity past to eternity future given to man that we may know God's truth.

God died for man that His Word would be found true unto all ages.

God went to His ever settled Word in Heaven to go to man, not to man that He may have an everlasting Word.

Now can we see this a little deeper that the surface?

God's written Word is the Bible and in John 1 and 1John 1, we find that Jesus is the Living Word of God.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

In Psalm 138:2 we find that even above the very precious name of the living Word of God, Jesus is the written Word of God, the Bible.

I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

Does this mean that we must worship the Bible? God forbid, for if we did that, we would have an idol. But can we worship God in the name of Jesus through the Holy Ghost without following the Word of God as our FINAL and ONLY authority for our faith and practice? The answer is emphatically... NO!

Now please, as you will, try to prove 'me' wrong and use some Scriptures out of their context to subvert the hearers into not believing the Bible, or worse yet, try to use the 'wisdom' of man and 'logic' or 'science falsely called' to disproove what has been said, because I know you are dying to do so. Try as you will, LET GOD BE TRUE AND EVERY MAN A LIAR!

1) God acts in men through the Holy Spirit, that's why we believe the conclusions of the Synods (including the ones who produced the final version of the Bible in the IV century) are free of error.

2) Why do you mention the papacy along with the JW, mormons and Islam???? The papacy is not a religion, it's an institution of authority initiated by Christ in order to prevent errors of faith from spreading.

3) The Church of God never intended the Bible to be like the pagan sacred books: your average religious pagan book contains one section of history, one of doctrine, one of practices and one of the religious authorities (like the Necronomicon, the Popol-Vuh and so on). The bishops who made the final version of the Bible never did this because they never suspected one day someone would doubt the legitimacy of the Church or anything like that. I don't blame them, who in the IV century would even think of such a far-fetched suspicion like that?.

Alright, Sagz.

That is wrong on every angle. This shameless self-promotion is sickening. :P

Nah, just messing with you! :P

The way I look at it, Jesus was constantly quoting Scripture.

When Satan tempted him, all he did was quote Scripture.

When the Pharisees confronted him, he quoted Scripture.

Hey, Jesus IS Scripture! :P

I love my Bible and won't give it up for anything. Jesus is my life.

Mobile,

No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.

Do you hate the Bible or the papacy? The two are diametrically opposed, for both claim to be the ultimate authority over the church of God and its practices. If in the pope you believe, then the Bible you will hate and serve not. If in the Bible you believe, then the papacy, you will hate and serve not.

The J,

The J,

VOG?

The authority and the law are 2 different things, for example, in the U.S. the ultimate judicial authority is the Supreme Court while the law, which is the base of that authority, is the Constitution.

The Bible by itself can't denounce a heresy because the Bible is the written testimony of God's Word, therefore you need someone to do it and that's the instituted authority.

Bottomline is the Papacy as one of the biblical insitutions depends directly on the biblical doctrine because it was created by it in the same way the authority of the Supreme Court depends directly on the Constitution.

One simple example of the reason why Jesus instituted such thing as the Papacy is that (again, for example) the Bible never mentions a thing about abortion quite simply because back then there wasn't the technology that makes possible this modern abomination, but the Judge (in this case, the Pope) can prove by logical reasoning that the essence of it is in direct opposition to the Bible's teachings, even if it is not literally forbidden by the Holy Writ.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
