Santa Claus

People seem to be divided these days over whether or not parents should let their kids believe in Santa Claus. Years ago everyone just went along with it in fun and didn't worry about it. That's changed somewhere along the line. What are some of your views on this?

Greetings Charlie,

Well when my kids were young I led them to believe there was a Santa but now they are older they know better LOL I'd be sure worried if they did'nt :o

But if I had to do it all over again, no I would not lead them to believe in some fat guy in a red suit and white hair bought gifts for them. Why? Well because I believe better to instill in the thinking of a growing child that 'all good gifts' come from God and get them in the habit of that thinking rather than to lead them to believe in a non-existent imaginary thing. It may have been fun to go along with it, but it is more wise to direct your childs pattern of thinking towards God and His goodness.

Just my thoughts is all :t2:

Hey!

Well, I think that Santa is an ok guy :t2: lol

I'm 17, and I know that santa isn't real. Having 12 brothers and sisters we all went thru the phase of "That guy must have a really sore bottom, coming thru the chimeny like that" :o

But I think it's ok.

I mean, my parents told us that there was a tooth fairy, and that we needed to be really good to get money. Well, we would give our teeth to my daddy and he would give (supposedly) them to the tooth fairy. Well, my little sister took advantage of this. She would lose a tooth and save it in a safe place, and when she lost another she woud give that tone to my dadddy for 5 bucks, well, somehow she'd end up losing another tooth after 4 days :o and then she'd find the other one that my daddy (supposedly) gave the tooth fairy. So she knew that the money was coming from my daddy.

Ok, and we wouldn't leave cookies out because we knew our daddy would get them. So we'd be really good, bake cookies then eat them ourselves. So really all along we knew...But it's still fun stuff:)

but my parents found a book, on the REAL Santa one day, and that set everything straight...We then started to admire the man that actually made toys for children and would leave them in their home after sneaking into the (BACK DOOR) not chimeny :D ! I think that misleading children to believe that magical people or things bring them joy, isn't a very nice thing to do at all..It's deceiving your child...

However, making up playful stories is alwaus fun...Just be sure u let them know that it's thru Christ that we receive full joy, but he also likes to see us smile over small things, like toys or just being together.

I am completely, 100 percent, undoubtedly, unquestionably undecided on the issue. lol Just can't make up my mind on this one. I see both sides. The kids I have are foster kids so I know everyone around (bio mom, dad, grandmas etc) them will be talking to them about Santa. I might as well go along with it. I don't want to be seen as the hard-nosed anti-fun Christian in all of this. I'm sure unbelievers don't understand why we wouldn't want to share santa so i'll go with the flow.

Me, too, Artsy...

I dunno...I like the pic of Santa kneeling in humility before the Christ-child in the nativity...

I like the idea of little children getting all eager and excited but maybe keep it to the very smallest children...

With a much, much stronger focus on Jesus....and Santa as a minor character during the season. *(only for the wee ones..)

Good question. I just don't see it any worse than Mickey Mouse or any other ficticious character. We live out our Christian lives in front of our children by allowing them to see us read the Bible, praying over meals, praying before bedtime, going to church, praying for people who are sick. I think that kids will be able to see the difference between what is real and not real. Santa Claus is based upon a real person who was, from my understanding, a Christian and I simply don't have a problem with it. The Bible says to bear up those who are weaker in their faith and I certainly won't condemn or belittle someone who disagrees with me, but MHO is that there is nothing wrong with ole St. Nick!

when i was a kid, i totally believed in santa... my parents would hide the presents until christmas eve, then sneak them in from where they were hid at the neighbor's house. one year, when i was about five or six, my bubble got burst. my brother, in an attempt to gloat over proving something to me, hid me behind the couch to watch as they brought them in. i felt totally betrayed by my parents! and absolutely furious with my brother.

i honestly don't remember if i raised my kids to believe in santa. my youngest, now 16, says that i did. i know i never discouraged it, but i always assumed they knew the truth since i was a single mom and money was so tight, and everything. but kids always remember differently than we do as adults.

personally, i think santa is relatively harmless... although if i were to do it all over again, i would probably teach them that santa is a fun fairy tale. like the tooth fairy or something. my kids knew from the first tooth that mom was the tooth fairy, because i had to put an IOU under the pillow LOL.

I saw "Santa" last night on television...on the 700 Club.

He was a natural Santa, real beard and all....and Mrs. Claus was a lovely, white-haired lady.

When children sat in his lap, he'd always whisper in their ear the story of Jesus' birth and tell them that's the "real meaning" of Christmas.

He told one child that the way he'd know the "real" Santa...was to ask him if he knew Jesus.

If he said, "Yes"...then he's a real Santa.

I still go into SHOCK when I hear believers talking about Santa. Rearrange the letters......satan. Yes, the antichrist spirit....sent to take away any glory from Chrsit in this made up holiday event.

1. He's a lie. Read what happens to ALL LIARS in Revelation: the answer is the burning lake of sulphur.

2. No one immoral or dishonest will ever the Kingdom of God. Rev. 21:27

Uh...LYING is dishonest.

3. He is not omnipresent, not all knowing (he knows when you are sleeping, yada yada) he is not immortal, he is not the giver of good gifts, he is not real....if he is not real....he is a lie. Do I need to give you the scriptures on DECEIT. DECEIVING one is the work of the devil on any level...he is the deceiver.

4. He is the Anti-Christ spirit. Made up to take attention away from God.

Remember he poses as omnipresent, all knowing...immortal...yada yada. Remember the ENEMY showing up as LIGHT ....something folks think is innocent or good.

We don't do CHRISTMAS, SANTA went a long time ago. If you spend some time studying ...even the encyclopedia you can get a WHOLE LOT of info about how Christmas came to be. The Word did not tell us when Christ birth was ...FOR A REASON. It does not talk about Birthday's much at all. It does not give the birth date for the Faith greats either. Birthdays were not celebrated in bibical times. A focus on SELF. One's condition leaving this world of sin was of more importance than his condition coming into this sin. Nothing to celebrate they thought.

Christmas was not celebrated unti 300 A. D. The Christmas Tree is an IDOL...and abomination to our Lord...HE says not to even bring it into your house. It's in Deut. and in Jer. 10 if you'd like to do that study.

INFO on this witchcraft and idol worship we do at Christmas and at Easter is NOT COMMANDED in the BIBLE. It is pagan and of the devil.....to lure us to Disobey God who did NOT SAY TO DO THIS. Study UZZA and what happened to him when he TRIED TO HELP THE LORD OUT by putting his hand to the ark when it was falling......a GOOD THING....GOOD HEART....GOOD INTENTIONS.....GOD KILLED HIM. WHEN MOSES did something the Lord told him NOT TO DO ...he was not allowed into the promised land.

Don't take my word for it. Take the WORD of the LORD. SHOW me in there where we are to celebrate a LIE OF A BIRTH of CHRIST (not Dec. 25th and where HE TOLD us to do this and I will do it again. Otherwise I will have to be OBEDIENT TO THE LORD and not enter into pagan worship and idols and worldiness and lies.

I realize this is STRONG if you have never studied it.....but it's TRUE...and it's time for the TRUE WORSHIPPERS TO WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH.

CHRIST IS TRUTH.....how can HE POSSIBLY be entangled and encircled with all this deciet, lies and idols. ANSWER: HE CAN'T ....we were never suppose to do it in the first place. More Catholism heeped on us...more idol worship. MORE FALSEHOOD....MORE WORLDLINESS. To be a friend with the WORLD is to be at ENIMTY with the LORD.

NO CAN DO.

Do any kind of search engine and put in the orgin of Christmas and see what I mean.

MY PEOPLE PERISH FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE !

CORRECTION: LIE of the "BIRTHDATE" of CHRIST.

SURELY our marvelous Lord, wonderful counselor was born.....surely HE IS OUR King of kings and Lord of lords...and that's what the bible tells us to focus on: HIS COMING BACK ..not HIS BIRTH EVEN THE CHURCH can't get this.

COMPROMISE, COMPROMISE, COMPROMISE....don't do it.

Do not go along with the world to get along. BUY THE TRUTH AND DON'T SELL IT (the word says) for ANYTHING.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
