Explanation of the Trinity

Is there anyone who could explain to me how there are three persons in the Godhead.

I've tried, on other board, and no one can explain the Trinity.

God has one essence only. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are the very same essence. All the Three are equally "as God".

The only distinction is their origin.

The Bible clearly shows that there is only one true God in the universe. God is uncreated, Creator, Triune Spirit (essence/metaphysics).

God is personal (will, intellect, emotions) and moral.

There are 3 co-equal, co-eternal, co-essential personal distinctions within the one essence of God. They are not persons like we think of human persons (i.e. not 3 separate gods= Mormonism). The Father is God; the Son is God; The Holy Spirit is God.

The Father is not the Son; the Son is not the Spirit; the Spirit is not the Father (one in essence, but distinct as 'persons').

The only way to reconcile all the relevant revelation is the "Trinity'.

He is not triplex nor tritheism= 3 separate gods (Mormonism).

They are not mere offices or modes like Sabellianism or "Jesus Only" or "Oneness" groups teach.

Jesus is Jehovah God and not a created angel (Arianism= Jehovah's Witnesses). The Spirit is personal and not an 'active force' (JW).

The one God has revealed Himself as existing as one in 3 and 3 in one. This is revelation and not found by reason, yet it is not unreasonable for the infinite God to be this way. Fellowship, relationship, love, and communication are eternal within the Godhead. He was not a lonely, solitary Being (Islam).

this may be an oversimplified explanation, but here goes.

you are human. you have a mind, a body, and a soul (or spirit).

well, we are created in God's own image, are we not? but God is not human. He has no physical body, although Jesus had one during his time on earth. God has a "mind"... that is the Father. He has a "body"... that of his Son. The Son is the WORD of God. God also has a "spirit", i.e. the Holy Spirit.

All three were present at the creation. if we try to grasp the concept in human terms, it comes across as though i'm saying that the father, son, and holy spirit are one entity. but it's far more complex than that, i was just trying to make it understandable. God actually is three persons, each making up one essense. during the creation, God said "let us make man in OUR image". clearly God isn't one, although they are a unified force... the Son and Spirit are in perfect unison with the Father.

someone else once gave another explanation... using a family as an example. when a man and wife marry, they become one. then a child comes along. it is all still one family, can not be separated biologically, but yet they are three distinct individuals.

i knew i would bungle it! i meant in the sense that WE are familiar with. in fact, i tried to get what i was saying across...

so i've acknowledged God is three persons, but when i said God isn't one, He's not like three individuals in the human sense.

there is a hierarchy though... God the Son submits to the Father, and the Spirit submits to the Son... but all act in accordance to the mind of God... the Father.

now i bet i've succeeded in making myself even more confused-sounding!
