A true Christian is a person who conveys and radiates the doctrines of Jesus Christ and leads others to abide by his spiritual disciplines and follow biblical training into a path of Christian Discipleship, in the truest sense of the term. Every religion has its own forms of communion and philosophy. Likewise, Christianity also has its own systematic and comprehensive statutes, which are to be adhered to, with dedication, fidelity and diligence to the fullest.

What Does the Bible Say About Discipleship?

Luke 9:23 EVS

Fellowship is something that is misunderstood. It is not simply a gathering together, but instead it is a joint participation in "spiritual activities." This would include prayer, bible study, working together for the advancement of the gospel, edification, etc... Fellowship can be hard work, but it does include amazing benefits. I wrote about this recently at http://www.studyyourbibleonline.com/bible-study/new-fellowship/

I agree, and within that are meals at each others homes, fishing trips, church picnics, and just hanging out......

Hello, I am new to any chat group and admit I do not know how to do any thing like this, subsequently, don't know if I can find my way back to this forum! I also have no idea what any computer abbreviations mean. I liked the title, "Fellowship" but noted very few or recent discussions? Is this a study group? Sorry I am so ignorant but was interested in a study group on what true fellowship connotated. I go to a fellowship group and have been to many through the years....however, have felt desperate to be able to really fellowship and not just go to another potluck or discussion on pretrib versus post, etc. My heart cries for revival with prayer and praise and I believe Satans primary scheme is to keep us either isolated or else complacent and comfortable versus desperately seeking Him. Anyway, if any advice on how to navigate to find a study like this would appreciate it and hope can find your response! Thanks!

Hi Barbe - Welcome!

The Study Group forum is a place for those on ministry staff to post a Bible study. As with all other threads on the Board, the threads eventually stop getting responses.

You can read through what was posted.

Otherwise, Start a New Topic in the "Welcome" forum to introduce yourself. You may respond to other posts on the board. After you post 10 times you may start another topic/thread in any of the other forums (except Controversial Issues).

You may start a new thread asking what people consider about fellowship if you would like.

Clearly fellowship does find its genesis in our relationship with the triune God. In my opinion the fellowship breakdown on many a "horizontal plane" is due to pride and an almost complete absence of corporate confession. The fact of the matter is one does not cease to sin once one becomes a "Christian". Yet in the vast majority of protestant fellowships, post-conversion sin issues are relegated to the vertical plane. We say; "Confess your sins to God for he is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Yet secretly, inside, many of us become disheartened when, despite our repeated, earnest confessions to God and heartfelt pleas for cleansing, we find ourselves falling into many of the same old sins days... or even hours later. Where is the cleansing? Where is the victory? Dietrich Bonhoeffer said:

He who is alone with his sins is utterly alone. It may be that Christians, notwithstanding in corporate worship, common prayer , and all their fellowship in service, may still be left to their loneliness. The final breakthrough to fellowship does not occur because though they have fellowship with one another as believers and as devout people, they do not have fellowship as the undevout, as sinners.

The pious fellowship permits no one to be a sinner. So everyone must conceal his sin from himself and from their fellowship. We dare not be sinners. Many Christians are unthinkably horrified when a real sinner is suddenly discovered among the righteous. So we remain alone with our sin, living in lies and hypocrisy. The fact is that we are sinners!

To have an attitude of fellowship one must first be open to the light of fellowship from the throne. Second, he must also be open to the fellowship of the members of the Body of Christ. Again, this is like the flow of blood in your body. All the members of your physical body must receive the flow of blood as well as send the flow of blood to the other members. In the Body of Christ this requires sacrifice. It requires the cutting of of self and the flesh. It requires that every member be open to the fellowship, regardless if that fellowship is a faithful word for building up, or it is a corrective word that sometimes wounds our pride.

This good stuff. :emot-hug::wub::wub: I never looked at fellowship quite like this before. It should be mandatory reading for ALL the brethren.

I anxiously await more teaching Beau.

May the Lord Bless you richly,

Wayne

I like this thread. Fellowship with other human beings has been the most difficult thing in my whole life to manage. It's not that I am inept with words, nor am I hideous to look at or uncouth in my behavior. I simply cannot extend real Love and Trust to other people without God's help. Before I found him (or he found me?) I was so lonely and empty that life had no meaning for me at all. God steered my feet day by day to a local church where I immediately was welcomed and felt at home. The people there casually extended the Love and Grace of The Lord to me without knowing a thing about me, and for once when people looked at me I did not feel judged. At the heart of all fellowship there is Grace that extends from God's Own Love, through Believers, to those who are most in need.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
