Hi. I have not been on here for such a long time as I have been rather busy and have had a lot of problems. My Dad thinks I read to much of the bible and says I think of Jesus too much. He also says the bible has changed me too much. He told me once that church was after my money and that it don't always tell the truth. My own friends are trying to tempt me and mislead me, as some of you know. I get called a bible basher. I felt like I had to get it of my chest so thanks for reading. Oh sorry you lot. I forgot what advise I really need. what can I do about this? If you can help thank you.

What type of advice are you looking for? It sounds like you don't have the greatest of friends, and I think it ironic that they call you the "bible basher" when it sounds like they are "bashing" you!

Stick to your guns is my advice, and do what you feel is right.

Out of curiosity, just how much Bible reading do you do?

The world is usually against us like that. It sounds like your dad might have had some bad experiences in the past with churches, so do deal with him gently. He doesn't see things the way we do. Pray for him and your friends lots.

Christ said "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33 (emphasis mine)

In highschool I was given the nickname "Churchey," and it wasn't meant to be complimentary...not that I took too much offense at it (something that frustrated them all the more). "Bible Thumper" was another one I heard, as did my friend Tiffany (who would promptly reply "I don't thump Bibles, I don't bash them, I READ them." ).

Don't forget...you're not alone :whistling:

I recommend the book "Jesus Freaks," compiled by DC Talk and Amnesty International. Also, DC Talk's music was a huge encouragement to me during that time.

Hi, I've been in simular situations, I lost most my friends when I became a christian, many old friends told me I read the bible too much, or refer to Jesus too much, lets look at the truth in this matter.

This world looks at Jesus too little, and many don't read the bible at all, the changes that Jesus is making in your life is contrary to the world, so the world is against it, The wicked will always try to scatter the righteous, and satan is a master of lies, and disception. You can never read the bible too much, and you can never grow in Jesus, and think of Jesus where it is a bad change, The more you think of Jesus, the more you stay grounded in him, the more you study the bible, the more you know about him, and the more amo you have for spiritual battles satan will put you in, Keep the fire burning, and when someone trys to put it out, it's only because satan doesnt like that fire, and doesnt want you near Jesus. Do not be conformed to this world, but transformed by the Holy Spirit.

Peace and blessings in Christ.

Josh

You keep going, don't let the devil stray you from your path. :b:

Let no man tear you away from God or put evil thoughts in your mind.

The more you read the Word of God the wiser you will become and the more people you will ultimatly bring to Christ.

It sounds like you might still be in school and that can be the hardest time but have faith that you are doing what is right and that the Lord God will correct and instruct you when the devil is running circles around you. I agree you have him nervous but you stick to it.

You've gotten alot of good advice here from all who have responded.

You made me pull out my Bible and I would type it but it is a little long for my hunt and peck :24::rofl::24:

Proverbs 3 (read this and you will know)

Thank you. I will do all that. What bothers me is the fact my Dad was a Christian and to turn around and tell me that I read too much of the bible and that I am too Christian...The first thing I wondered was why has people changed so much. My own best friend in the world doesn't want to talk to me. Yes I have lost my friends. But now I think of it some good has come of it.

I was on the bus going to college. my friend (I met her on that day) Sat next to me and she looked at the bible i was reading. I saw her look at it and I thought shes going to make fun of me now for being a Christian. Another one who's going to hate me. I put my bible in my bag. She smiled at me and said I am Christian too. there is a youth club at the church would you like to come? There are people the same age as you. 16. I was just shocked

I thought that it was too good to be true. A group of Christians the same age as me going to this youth club. (Something I prayed for) I thought too myself. They are probably pretending to be Christians for the fun of the youth club and to mislead. You know what fake Christians do. But I thought I would go along and see. :taped:

I got at the youth club and I couldn't believe my eyes. A group of Christians were indeed reading their own bibles and singing praise songs. Whats more shocking was that they were indeed my age and they lived near me. :o

It was amazing I couldn't believe my wish had come true.

I just thought of something else, your dad might be a bit envious of you because you have a closer walk with God than he does. Sometimes the young can see things more clearly because they aren't as worldly. Sometimes parents have a hard time dealing with their children exceding their status.

My suggestion pray for your dad and maybe if you can find the right words sit down and talk to him. You know him, you might be able to get through to him where no one else could. Just make sure you pray for God to give you the words and to open his heart so that he will understand.

Will continue to pray for you both. :emot-hug::emot-hug::emot-hug::emot-hug:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
