Leninard, they have had sanctions on them for 50 years now. North Korea is the most insular nation on the planet. Kim Jong il is not going to back down and lose face. He is not going to do it. Moreover, we are not going to be able to bark orders at China either. We don't have a stick to use here, all we have is a carrot. We can either offer carrot, or we can just set back and watch them build more bombs and possibly sell them.

Quite evidently, whatever President Bush is saying and/or doing re the evil axis of Stalinist North Korea is paying off. Why starve your own people forever when a most benevolent America is willing to include you in its generosity? Wonders never cease. Congrats, Mr. President!
