Pray for Peace to come to Israel!

re: How were people saved before Jesus came?

Snowdoove :P :P :P

before Grace, there was Law.

before Christ, a person was saved by works, as well as faith. one had to have faith in God as well as strictly adhere to the laws of God, including sacrificial offerings to attone for their sins.

Hi there LadyC.

Quote: "before grace. there was law"........... I think not.

Gen.6:8. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

Noah was before the law as we know it as far as I can find. And I am not trying to be picky I assure you, it's just an observation.

Blessings......eric

lol, i'll stand corrected if i need to be... but i'm not sure that Leviticus was the first "law". even adam and eve were given laws to live by, and were banished from the Garden of Eden when they disobeyed them.

however, i'm not sure when the sacrifices were instituted. anyway, what i meant by Grace, which probably was not an entirely appropriate use of the word in the context of OT people's relationship with God, was the gift of salvation through Christ.

Jesus preached to the captives (the Old Testament Saints) in Abraham's bosom. They had to have a chance to hear the gospel and to accept or reject Jesus also. That was one of the purpose of Jesus descending for into hell for three days. It was not actually hell as we think of it. There was a gulf fixed between hell and Abraham's bosom. Jesus only went to Abraham's bosom, I believe. He could have actually preached to the captives in hell so that they would have a chance to hear the salvation message also. At any rate, everyone has to hear Jesus salvation message at one time in their life and given a chance to accept or reject Jesus. The Adamic Covenant or the Mosaic Law did not save people. The Mosaic Law only covered the people with the blood of animals. Jesus' blood cleansed us and those that accepted him who were held captive. They looked forward to that day.

Greetings All,

You may want to consider these verses carefully:

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

Romans 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

2 Corinthians 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

2 Corinthians 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

Ephesians 2:14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

Ephesians 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Ephesians 2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

Ephesians 2:17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

Ephesians 2:18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

Colossians 1:21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

Colossians 1:22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

Hebrews 2:17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Romans 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,

Romans 16:26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

Acts 13:38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

Acts 13:39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

Romans 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

Please take your time and read these verses carefully and with prayer. There is and never has been, nor shall ever be any other name but that of Jesus that saves ANYONE, Old Testament OR New.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

People in the old testament were saved through faith and grace just like us. The only difference is that now we are looking back through recorded history at the life and words of Christ where they were looking forward through the promises and prophecies of God.

Amen Idolsmasher! :P The men of old were only saved by faith! Abraham was justified by faith and was found pleasing in God's sight!

The whole O.T. is based on FAITH, the ones who grasped it and overcame, and the others who had none and perished!

Only Christ Saves :P

Amen!

Smash and Dad Ernie! Way to go! :P

I would also add to the above there were sacrifices in the times before the Mosaic Law.

Look to Cain and Abel.

Why was one sacrifice not honored? Could it be it was brought in a non pleasing manner? Why pick on old Cain anyway?

What of sacrifice anyway?

What sacrifice is He looking for anyway?

There are many today making unpleasant sacrifices that are an abomination on G-ds very Altar. Offer it to your President and see if he is happy with it.

Does your sacrifice make you just? :P Or is it the shed Blood of the Lamb of G-d that enables you to cross over Jordan? Posessing the land.

Oh' Ye stiff necked people! I mean that in Love. For my neck is mighty stiff! :P

Peace,

Dave

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
