Christians rejecting the Faith?

1 Timothy 4:1 KJV

(1) Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

There are Christians who backslide, who depart from the faith. Salvation does not depend upon you not departing from the faith. It is dependant upon God not departing from you. There are Christians who will for a variety of reasons depart into false doctrines and false teachings. This verse is not necessarily addressing those who would reject God, but there are those who believe in the true God but believe wrong things about him. There are false doctrines within Christian ranks. There are those who believe that if you do not speak in tounges you are not saved. The "name it and claim it" doctrine is another. There are Christians who are racist. While God abhors these things, they are payed for by Jesus, and those that participate will be punished. One thing to keep in mind is that some Christians are very immature in the faith, and are easily led astray as a result. It is the result of a lack of solid, biblical discipleship in the Church that is at fault there. Again, God knows our frame, he knows that we are not dust.

One can, for a time, hate God and reject Him out of the pain of losing a child, or spouse to disease or disaster. One can rebel against God because something happens to them, and they are reacting out of their pain. If we go by what some say on this board, they are not saved. God is bigger than that, and smarter than that, and this does not take Him by surprise, and He is not injured in the least. He still loves those who cease to love him, and He can deal with the situation.

Know this: Our sins were layed upon Jesus. Jesus has already borne everything it takes to send a man to Hell. He was pierced for our transgressions, bruised for our inquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. Jesus has borne everything it takes to send a man to Hell, and he did it, so you wouldn't have to.

Thanks, cats - she's my sweety!! In that little photo, she was just about to bark. Well, "talk" to me, and I clicked and it looked more like a grin, LOL.

Okay, but then what is it they're talking about when they say the great "apostacy" in the end times?

Sounds to me like the Christian Church/Body departing from the true faith...

Who is "they?"

Well, I completely agree with Shiloh. The only work we have to do is to surrender our hearts to Jesus. This is a repentance. After that our sins are forgiven in the context of salvation. Our sins will never again seperate us completely from God. There will be accountability for our sinful works but losing salvation will never again be the punishment for them.

1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Why does Shiloh continue to bash others when they don't agree with his/hers thoughts? I am apalled that this is allowed and tolerated on a Christian based board.

This is hostility in its finest. I believe that not everyone will agree with each others beliefs but there is a way to handle it and go about our business in a mature fashion. I can say that I am fed up with the short time I have been here and if this continues will not be back.

Just an newbies point of view.

The fact that you have been here such a short time is an indicator that you do not have a grasp on what is going on. You need to read ahead what you posted and read the uncalled for hostility leveled against me, and others who believe as I do, not only in this thread but in others. You need to be little more informed about this before passing judgement. I have had others assigning their values to me, accusing me believing in doctrines of devils and such.

Shiloh: Oh, I can't recall the verse now...it's somewhere in the NT concerning the end times...

I can't think of it...I "think" it's in Matthew 24 somewhere...about departing from the faith.

jmel: We're long past it; forgotten and over...we just move on and forgive. People get upset sometimes.

Smash: Bruh, I agree but it's a work that never ends...every day is a new challenge; every day brings new mercies.

Hello, and welcome. Here are a few of the "remarks" that started hostility here, and they were not from Shiloh. He was responding to remarks like these when he said that. These were being said either about the doctrine of OSAS, or those who hold to it, and telling those who believe OSAS what we believe: (bold added by me)

"Some Great Websites that combat this false doctrine:"

"Now, who am I supposed to believe? John Ankerberg or the Spirit of God?

1 Timothy 4:1 KJV

(1) Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; "

"So how do these "smooth talkers" get such a conclusion?

Certainly not from the Bible. I'd hate to teach or base my eternal future on such unscriptural doctrines of men"

"If you cannot see the difference, then it is no surprise. OSAS teaches that obedience to God is a work. "Just sit back and rest because God did it all for you", OSAS says, while completely ignoring passages that commands us to avoid sin, stand firm, and endure to the end, claiming that to do so is "trying to earn you salvation". Sad."

Only to a doctrine that breeds this type of lawless thinking.

I don't think Shiloh started the hostility.

Considering YOU DON"T sit at my computer and know what I read, I will inform you. I have read all the previous posts and just about any post you are involved in turns out to be a fight. I personally WON"T belong to a place that tolerates your actions.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
