Yeah, go ahead. Pounce on people who are opening up.

Why do you consider this "punicng"?

Never mind. I deleted it, but it did seem like a form of taking away from one's precious experience in the Lord. It would hurt to have someone belittle one's experience.

Please explain to me why you all seem to recieve tongues. Its one of the less important gifts in Paul's opinion. But all of you seem to love it and have it. Tongues was not given to everyone! Paul says it! One person may recieve prophecy, one the distinguishing of spirits, one different kinds of tongues. Why do so many people claim to have tongues? Maybe because its not the true tongues. Not the tongues from biblical times. With all the things you guys tell me, it seems to prove what I'm saying even further. And please show me where your proof is for this private prayer language. I see no evidence for it. Give me some reasoning but nothing based on experiences. The experiences you have had mean nothing unless they are confirmed by the Bible. One more thing for ephesians girl. Tell me. If in your church you guys practice the gifts, do you atleast follow the rules set by Paul in corinthians? And not just sometimes but all the time? Im looking forward to your response. Your brother in Christ, matthew

We don't all have the ministry gift of tongues, where one has a message from God to the church and one interprets. I rarely see that, but it does happen.

But we all can have the gift of praying in tongues, the grace gift. Paul practiced that all the time, praying in the Spirit. That is precisely what praying in the Spirit is, although powerful praying in the Spirit can also be in one's own native tongue as well. Jude 20 says, "But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit..."

There are no rules for a congregation praying in tongues, except we must stop when a leader wants to speak or change order. The Holy Spirit is in charge and He is not disorderly.

But there are rules for those who have the ministry gift of tongues which is used to exhort or prophesy to the congregation.

All the gifts ARE practised in the true church, of which I am a member. They aren't practised in the false church, thats the thing.

Shalom Matthew

This comment above should be a red flag. Only the ones who speak in tongues are the true church?

Hmmmm, very telling. And not at all Scriptural. Test the spirits Brother, not every spirit is of G-d. Any Believer in Jesus who exalts the "gifts" above the Giver is not walking according to the Scriptures. That is in fact, making an "idol" of the gifts and not worshiping the Giver.

You are correct, not everyone has the gift of tongues. That is what the Scriptures say. There is no Scripture that says there is a "prayer language", in fact, the gifts are given to build up the BODY, for the COMMON GOOD. And nowhere in Scripture does it say that if you don't walk in the gifts, you are a false church!

1 Corinthinans 12

4Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit;

5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.

7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

8 To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

11 All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.

All I can say is that it is a wonderful thing to be a member of a Body of believers that prays together often, and most of us in tongues at various points in our prayer. It, to me, must be like music to the ears of God, for it sounds like a symphony to me!

God loves a yielded heart and He loves a yielded tongue as well...one who is willing to give over to the Spirit, and let Him speak what we only wish we could say.

One benefit of the private, devotional practice of "tongues" is Personal edification.

Jude 1:20

But You, beloved, building yourselves (not each other) up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.

FA Bible translation says-

"But you dear friends must build EACH OTHER up....

Praying in tongues is for edification and the building up of the INDIVIDUAL who is praying in The Spirit. For the individual is speaking "mysteries" to God, NOT to another member of the body.

The use of tongues is a means of private self-edification. This practice does not denote selfishness, but rather spiritual strengthening. Prophecy however builds up, encourages, and comforts others in the church.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
