Why would they care so much about this question, why would the secular media spend so much serious time worrying about this question?

For example do they spend all of this time worrying if Mohammad actually spoke directly to God or if we are really reincarnated into an ant? No, because most realize that these things just don't ring true, but when it comes to Christ, they worry a little, as Lewis says it has the ring of truth about it that all true things do. Thus the need to try to assure themselves and try to ding the faith of Christians a little by all of this attention, they feel a little uncomfortable that the Gospels that the New Testament might actually be true.. The goal is to neuter Christ, to make Him a man who cannot forgive sins, and did not rise from the dead, but who was a really good sweet guy with great teachings. This is the work of Satan, because if Christ did not rise as Paul said we are still all in our sins, death has dominion over us, we are still all going to hell, just where Satan wants us.

I second Nebula's resoponse: Roman soldiers were EXPERT killers. They knew that people had a tendency to pass out during such agonizing deaaths, so they were VERY careful to make sure people were good and properly dead before they let them down from crosses.

The entire New Testament except for 2 verses is quoted in the letters of the earliest 'Church Fathers' by A.D. 115. Unless your dad thinks these 2 verses were added "....over 300 years after the Bible was intially written......" then I can't imagine WHAT he is talking about. He has been reading some very unscholarly material, from very unreliable sources. There is ZERO evidence for such a claim, and not one reliable scholar could possibly make such a claim.

First of all, when He was stabbed through the side "Water and blood" came spilling forth. I was listening to a coroner the other day who said the only way this could happen would be if the blood had stopped flowing around the body, and had begun to separate into the Red ('serum'?) and the clear plasma. This is a medical condition, technically known as 'dead.'

I've read that the earliest manuscripts did not have Mark 16:9-20 included in it which may have been added later.

I think your right Nebula that my dad is just finding excuses not to believe.
