Jesus, who gave us that salvation, said, "If you love Me, keep My commandments.".

Can anyone list all the commandments that Jesus himself gave? What are all the commandments of his?

Should I open a new topic for this question?

Here's some.

Jesus gave so many, or rather, clarified the ones He felt it was important to clarify.

Since Jesus is God in the flesh(God the Son), the original laws that were given to Moses were given by Him.

John 1:1-2

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning."

Here the Word is refering to Jesus.

Matthew 5:17-48

The Fulfillment of the Law

17)"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

18)I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

19)Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20)For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Murder

21)"You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.'

22)But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca,' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.

23)"Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,

24)leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.

25)"Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way, or he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.

26)I tell you the truth, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.

Adultery

27)"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.'

28)But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

29)If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

30)And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

Divorce

31)"It has been said, 'Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.'

32)But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.

Oaths

33)"Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not break your oath, but keep the oaths you have made to the Lord.'

34)But I tell you, Do not swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God's throne;

35)or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King.

36)And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black.

37)Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

An Eye for an Eye

38)"You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.'

39)But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.

40)And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well.

41)If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.

42)Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

Love for Enemies

43)"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'

44)But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

45)that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

46)If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?

47)And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?

48)Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Seems like some are on a witch hunt trying hard to discredit the law of Moses. I reckon this thread is running out of steam.

Why keep on going over the same ground, when the topic has been hashed and rehashed so much the the sunday school kids should understand the difference between grace and law.

Grace and faith will get you saved without even knowing the law, but knowing and keeping the law will not get you saved without grace and faith.......simple.

King David liked to "meditate day and night", speaking of God's laws like here in this thread.

We love it so much, we can never get enough. Talking about it is like candy to God's children.

I see no problems here. Another thread will open up and we'll do this all over again. Like ants.

yes you neighbor could be your friend too. But isn't anyone in your neighborhood, or town, or state considered your neighbor? I am sure you can find 1 enemy in a entire state

So are we commanded to love all people on the entire planet, even evil ones as ourself (key words)?

I think there is quite a difference generaly speaking between loving one's enemy and loving one's neighbor as self.

God(Jesus) explained this in full detail so it must be something He felt was very important.

How can we argue with that? He made it so clear.

I found this below here, http://www.onr.com/user/bejo/loveneigh.htm

What does it mean to "love your neighbor." Love means "to value" or "to appreciate." We love whatever we believe is valuable or has "worth." Our love for other persons is shown by our respect or appreciation for their "value" or "worth." According to Jesus, respect for others is demonstrated by doing to others as you wish others would do to you (Matthew 7:12; Luke 6:31). This is known as the "Golden Rule."

Jesus taught that it is God's will, or law, for us to love our "neighbor." In response to the question, "Who is my neighbor," Jesus told the parable we call "The Good Samaritan," as follows:

"A man was going down from Jeruslem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half-dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road; and when he (the priest) saw him (the wounded man) he (the priest) passed by on the other side (of the road). So likewise a Levite, when he saw him (the wounded man) he (the Levite) passed by on the other side (of the road).

"But a Samaritan, as he jouneyed, came to where he (the wounded man) was; and when he saw him, he (the Samaritan) had compassion, and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; then he set him on his own beast and brought him (the wounded man) to an inn, and took care of him. And the next day, he (the Samaritan) took out two denaii (money) and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, "Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back."

"(Then Jesus asked,) 'Which of these three proved neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?' He (a lawyer) said, 'The one who showed mercy on him.' And Jesus said to him, 'Go and do likewise' (Luke 10:30-37).

In this parable, the man who was robbed and beaten was traveling "from Jerusalem to Jericho" (two cities in Judea). The implication of this geographical location is that the man was a Jew (from Judea). The man who showed compassion on him was a Samaritan. This is significant because Samaritans and Jews generally did not like each other because of racial and religious differences. Each considered the other to be an "enemy."

The fact that a Samaritan had compassion on an "enemy" suggests that we should have compassion on anyone who is suffering, even those we consider our "enemies." This seems to be supported by Jesus' teaching, "Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you" (Luke 6:27).

If such is what Jesus meant by 'enemy' then ofcourse I agree with you but I was thinking of 'enemy' in a much different sense and context... I don't see enemies in that way.

I was thinking along the lines of an 'enemy' being one who attacked, beat, and robbed the man, in that context. And if such an attack were to occur in my house the enemy is going down! Then I'd send some bandages to his prison cell. Oh and in certain threatening circumstances and especialy if my child is involved It might even be that I end up having to send flowers to my enemies grave.

I forgot to add; so in the parable that Jesus gave of the good Samaritan the enemy is he (those) who attacked, the neighbor is he who was attacked and he who proved to be neighbor is the Samaritan. Hence the good Samaritan loved his neighbor as himself.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
