It's a day when I remember all of my fallen brothers and sisters, and the people I served with.

I never served overseas, but I know people who do....one of the girls I went to school with is stationed in Guam, and another one came back from Iraq just over a year ago.

I pray that God keeps His hand of protection over all of our troops. Most of them feel so unappreciated and forgotten.

Memorial Day to me is no mail delivery and a day off from work.

I think the banks are closed too.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American G.I.

One died for your soul, the others for your freedom.

Memorial Day - a time to spend with the Lord, family, and friends celebrating the freedoms we have as a result to the death of Christ upon the cross and the sacrifices that were made and are being made by those who have and are serving in our Armed Forces.

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

Thomas Jefferson

3rd president of US (1743 - 1826)

It's a time for me to sit back and reflect on he sacrifice paid by millions of America's finest citizens. Even for those that did not die to protect our freedoms, they gave up years of their lives in order to protect our freedom, and saw things that no man should ever see.

As the saying goes, "The first casualty of war is innocence."

What does it mean to you?

ok, i'm gonna be totally honest. my daughter is a Marine. my dad was in the army. my brother in the airforce. you'd think this day would really be a day when i gave more than a passing thought to our troops, veterans, and those who have died for their country.

unfortunately i can't say that. i barely give it a thought other than to enjoy mark having a day off and us enjoying the church picnic.

does that make me a horrible person? ;(

Memorial Day is a day long forgotten in schools today ... We had plans for today about a week ago.. a day off from school/work... spend time with the family and maybe even pull out that barbeque grill that has been in the shed since last summer... maybe make up some hamburgers, or chicken, etc... Have a Memorial Day barbeque...

This day has been planned for today as a day to relax when today is meant to be a day when we rememebred our soldiers, loved ones, who have been lost in WWI, WWII< and the proceeding wars... Desert Storm, Just Cause, Vietnam, and many more... Of course, the Iraqi War that is currently being fought.

Both my parents fought in the military and my only uncle on my dad's side died from fighting in a war... I know many that are serving in Iraq right now, and since I'm on a military base, I know of the heartaches for those families especially. These were men and women who were husbands and wives, fathers and mothers who fought for our country. They paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom... their lives. The face horrors beyond what we can imagine, and faced with choices and decision every moment. They also loose more brothers... I fear the take the greatest lost because they grow so close with those of whom they put their lives in... They see bloodshed and the loss of so many lives.... It changes one life adn one mindset. They have their stories to tell, and the stories they refuse to tell.

They have honor and are due the utmost respect, but to themslves, in their own minds, they don't deserve it. They feel they were jsut doing their duty and won't say "look at me".... they put their lives out on the lines and that is why we have hte freedoms we have... for those in America in particular...

Yes, we are loosing a lot of rights for various reasons... particular freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and right to bear arms... but they gave up their freedoms.. their right to life. So many have given that up for us and we shoudl pay that respect to them not just on "memorial day" or "veterans day" or "4th fo July"... but every day. They deserve so much more but we shoudl at least be prayign for those who are still fighting and for htose who have given their lives for us.

Memorial Day is just a title that doesn't even touch the tip of hte ice berg... many say it is a day to remember our "fallen soldiers".. and yeah, i can see where that saying came from.. but I think of them as fallen... They are not fallen, but standing... They may lay in their graves or still be lost out on the battle feild, possibly washed up on shore .. or touching the depths of the ocean, but they are still standing becuase of the impact of their sacrifices. They deserve so much more than what we give them.

You've given up your daughter to serve and protect our freedom. I think that earns you the right to just relax for a day. :whistling:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
