Ouija Boards etc. fro Christians

Leaving the arena of gnomes and faeires for a minute, allow me to return to the Ouija board. When I was a very young Christian and attending a denominational college, a friend of mine and I began to play around with a Ouija board. I'll tell you what we experienced in a moment, but first you need to know my history with the Ouija board.

As a child, growing up in a Christian home, I had access to a Ouija board in the home. My siblings and I spent many an hour playing with this board and we thought nothing of it, for to us it was just harmless fun, we did not perceive any sort of evil of any kind being attached to it. To my family, it was just a harmless toy.

Fast forward to my college years, many years separated from my youth (I flunked out of three colleges in my youth before going back at 27 with a wife and a child). Even though I was a Christian while in the college where I received my degree, I was not a Christan growing up, even though I had been baptized, catechized, and was a member in good standing in my denomination, for I had never accepted Jesus as my Savior until just after my 25th birthday.

So now this newly minted Christian (who had never been taught that there was any evil at all inherent in the Ouija board) pulled out one of these "harmless toys" at my friends house and we begin to play with it. Harmless questions were asked leading to seemingly harmless answers. However, the level of questions began to become more serious the more we played with the Ouija board. It rose to the level where my wife, in the other room listening, began to be seriously disturbed by the level of questioning and the answers we were receiving. She was, at that time, a dedicated child of God who could plainly hear Him speaking to her. When she began to be seriously disturbed by just listening to our questions and answers, it began to bother me. So I asked the Ouija board if it was being operated by a spirit being and the immediate answer was a "Yes".

My friend and I were on to something here, so I asked the Ouija board for the name of the spirit operating the board. The board immediately spelled out the name "Mephistopheles" which I immediately recognized as the name of the chief devil in the legend of Faust, the man who sold his soul to the devil. My friend and I quit at once playing with the Ouija board because we now knew that it was demonically powered and we even had the name of the demon. At no time were either my friend or myself thinking of this name or even considering the possibility that the Ouija board could be demon powered. The answer of "yes" to the question asking if the Ouija board was being operated by a spirit was so quick that it took both my friend and me by surprise. The rapid and immediate spelling of the demon's name also convinced both of us that we were no longer in control of moving the triangle with the downward pointing tack that is the method the Ouija board uses to communicate with those consulting it.

The demon "Mephistopheles" was now in control of this "harmless toy" and that knowledge has led me to give up totally a "harmless toy" I had enjoying playing witth as a child. To this day I will not touch a Ouija board except to throw it in the trash for immediate removal from the area. My friend threw his Ouija board away immediately after that session and, to my knowledge, never picked it up again.

I know, from personal experience, that Ouija boards are demon powered and are far from the "harmless toy" that they are represented as being. No born-again child of God should ever consent to playing with this "harmless toy" for to do so gives Satan immediate access to your mind and thoughts even though you feel that you are protected from demonic forces through the power of God. To willingly allow Satan and his demons access to your mind and thoughts through playing with a Ouija board negates any protection from God that you might now enjoy, for the Ouija board, and all it stands for does not come from God, but is truly a deception of Satan designed to control your mind and thoughts through his demons.
