Paul also tells us not to speculate who will go to heaven and who will go to hell, he says turn our eyes on ourselves in these matters.

Shalom Smalcald,

The OP's question is valid. It is not wrong to ask these questions here.

The question is, does someone in willful sin go to Heaven? The Bible says no.

1 Corinthians 6

9Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,[c] 10nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

im not sure if your understanding Pauls point about righteousness.

I just read an article today at BP News about a homosexual activist who repented and made Jesus Lord of his life. For every sinner in bondage, this is indeed Good News. :noidea:

If your uncle is truly in Christ, he will show evidence of repentance. If not, he will reject the very idea that he should repent. You may be the most effective tool in the Lord's hand to lead your uncle to true repentance because you obviously love him, which should drive you to pray for him fervently and effectively.

Jas 5:16 Confess faults to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous one avails much.

Jas 5:17 Elijah was a man of like passion as we are. And he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for the time of three years and six months.

Jas 5:18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth caused its fruit to sprout.

Jas 5:19 Brothers, if anyone among you err from the truth, and if anyone turns him back,

Jas 5:20 know that he who turns back the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

Aren't we declared "righteous" when we're saved? Isn't salvation a matter of the heart, and not a matter deeds done--or not done?

:noidea:

yep Romans 3:26.

To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be

just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

all are unrighteous. doesnt matter if its homosexuality or premarital sex.

one sin makes one unrighteous.

Romans 3:10

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one

Shalom,

The key idea here is that the uncle is still a practicing homosexual, if I understand correctly.

That is unrepented sin. And no, practicing homosexuals will not enter Heaven as I understand the Scriptures. This is because Jesus says:

John 14:

15"If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

John 15

9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.

The key phrase being 'abide." If we are willfully practicing sin, we are not abiding in Jesus, nor are we keeping His commandments. Unrepentant sinners will not be in Heaven, in my understanding of the Scriptures.

Shalom Isaiah,

We are saved by grace through faith. BUT, we are to stop sinning. Paul addresses this in Romans 6. Are we to continue in sin because we are under grace? Heaven forbid! We are to DIE to sin, not continue in it.

We are freed from sin, our "old man" has been crucified. If we choose to continue to sin, we willfully are not abiding in Jesus.

Romans 6

1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? 3Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life

whether you practice homosexuality, had a bad thought or have pre-marital sex...its all the same.

nothing that you do after youve been saved will make you righteous.

all great Christian leaders are unrighteous and theyve turned their lives around.

so to bring up scripture to describe a selected groups is wrong because WE ARE ALL unrighteous.

we have been "declared" but not made nor transformed.

Oh, I am sorry Vicki, certainly the OP's question is very valid, that is not really what I meant.

How do you know if someone is a "practicing" homosexual? I mean I am not going to ask someone if they are sleeping with their girlfriend, likewise I am not going to ask someone I suspect is gay if they are having sex.

Judgment is a terrible burden, one the Lord has not given us as individual Christians, and we can be thankful for that! So yes pray for your uncle, but just as importantly love him and love him regardless of what you think he may or may not be doing or may or may not have repented of. Christ loved us and loves us, poor miserable sinners no better in God's eyes than a homosexual, but He loved us anyway. Certainly we can do no different.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
