Has Michael Moore repented of his manipulation of facts? Show me if he has...I'd love to see it and I will apologize for my accusation. If he hasn't repented, then he is an unrepentent liar. That is MY opinion based on all the information that has come my way regarding Michael Moore. [Regarding Bill O'Reilly, he's no angel either. I don't watch any talk shows actually; I'd rather go and seek out the source data so I can form my own opinions rather than repeat the opinions of others.]

In 1996, Dr. Linda Peeno, a former medical reviewer for the health insurer Humana, said her job was to save money for the company. In front of a Congressional panel, she testified to denying treatment to a man who later died. She blamed his death on her decision, a decision which saved the company thousands of dollars, and which earned her a raise. Again, her job was to save money for the company.

Yes, some insurance companies have bad policies and lack ethics. Regardless, it is NOT the norm in the industry. We are self-insured and use CIGNA as a 3rd party to manage our account. That is required by law. How about that? A company cannot manage their own heathcare program even if they are self-insured...the law requires a 3rd party. The laws have changed since 1996 and will continue to do so....as they have with in ALL areas that involve people's welfare...environment, saftey, healthcare and so on.

Are you one of those people who believes every corporation has your best interest at heart, with their own profit a distant second?

Of coarse not but you are painting with a broad brush...or at least supporting Michael Moore who does. Regardless, the two do NOT have to be at odds. My plant is very profitable but we do not sacrifice the health & safety of our folks to be so. You make broad accusations that are based on fear and perception and not fact.

What's your point? That health insurance is expensive? My bank account could have told you that.

With your comments, you put companies in a negative light and left out that it is those same companies that enable us to earn a living...and a very high standard of living actually. If you worked for a plant like mine, your bank account would have not been affected. My healthcare plan places a $2000 stop loss in a calendar year. In other words, my son's medical expenses that ran close to $200,000 only cost me $2,000! I think that's a darn good deal...and I have a healthy son today.

We have the best doctors in the world, certainly. But what's healthcare if you can't afford it? And what's healthcare if it doesn't cover what it should when you need it, as a matter of life or death?

Actually, I agree with you on this point. i never said that there weren't flaws with the system.

That doesn't work on me Lorax. I'm not going to spend the time to look up sources but I will quote one source... YOU. "I am aware Michael Moore has exaggerated and presented non-representative samplings to support his agenda..." In other words, he munipulated the facts and cannot be trusted. He therefore lied. Maybe the problem is how we define lying?

There is a difference between exclusively presenting cases that support your points (Moore's condition, O'Reilly's condition, advertising in general) and outright lying AKA bearing false witness. . . .

Lorax, I respect your desire to defend this documentary. However, it could just as easily be said the the Snake in the Garden of Eden merely "exaggerated and presented non-representative samplings to support his agenda" - after a fashion.

Any slight twisting of the truth to make the other believe something that isn't quite right is deception, and thus the must subtle of all forms of lying.
