It is obvious that some of you feel very strongly about this and before it turns into something really ugly, maybe it should end.

I agree, we get nowhere on this except adding a little bitterness in our hearts against other people over such a small subject. I apologize if I have caused any myself.

ok, so I do take it that you trust your savior, yes? If you trust him and love him and continue to preach Jesus to your offspring, then wont your children turn a deaf ear to Satan's words? And a blind eye to Satan's acts? If you shelter your children from this then you leave them unequipped to handle it later which is why is facts are so high. I also again did never mean to offend. I am however, not saying that you should sit your child down and watch pornos. Thats a twist of my words and not what I'm saying. I fully agree that children shouldn't look at that kind of stuff. But to completely shield and cut them off and they wont be able to cope and will stray easily. I should know, my mom tried the same thing (shielding) with me and it took me a long time to come around.

DON'T CALL ME HONEY. my pet peeve is someone using that in a contemptuous manner. i may have worded it ineffectively but if you read the posts by others about in the world vs of the world you will know what i was saying... the kids spend all their lives "in" the world. we can NOT teach them to be "in it" but not "of it" by taking them to movies that make being "of it" look a heck of a lot more fun. i should have said it puts our children in a position of being OF the world instead of teaching them to be in it instead of "of it".

Why Harry Potter? Why not get all worked up over say The Belgarid and The Malloreon two fantastic fantasy epics that revolve around sorcery by David Eddings, or how about the Shannara series by Terry Brooks, which includes spell casting, witchcraft sourcey druidism etc

Infact there are countless fantasy books heavily influenced by occult etc

Why is Harry Potter targeted for this special treatment?

The only reason Harry Potter is targeted is because it has become one of the worlds best sellers and extremely popular. Why is that? Being well written and a jolly good story line helps, but what also make Harry Potter popular with children is that it is based on earth and the present day with the hero as a child, this is something all children can relate to, its grasps their imagination.

Why Is Harry Potter seen as such an evil?

Unfortunately the books do encourage children to become involved in witch craft, It is just all part of sign of times anyway, Harry Potter and his mates are

MY OPINION OF HARRY POTTER IS THAT IT IS "GARBAGE". IS THAT SPELLED CORRECTLY? G A R B A G E!!!!!

and yes, I HAVE LOOKED AT THE VERY FIRST BOOK THAT CAME OUT A FEW YEARS AGO. AFTER JUST SKIMMING THE PAGES AND SEEING SO MUCH DEMONIC AND WITCHCRAFT, ETC., I PUT THE BOOK DOWN, AND I REMEMBER READING A FEW VERSES OF THE BIBLE TO GET THE JUNK OUT OF MY HEAD.

IN ALL THESE YEARS, MY IDEAS AND THOUGHTS HAVE NOT CHANGED. I DON'T LIKE WALKING PAST THIS STUFF, BOOKS AND MOVIES AT STORES, NOR SEEING THE ENDLESS COMMERCIALS REGARDING THIS LAST MOVIE ON TV.

Is it right to get aggressive and obsessive and persecute the author and everyone who reads it and likes it?

This is what really makes me angry: people who write hate letters and threaten J.K. Rowling because she's written these books. That's just SICK. That does not show Christian love, it is NOT an effective way to bring her to Christ (if, indeed, she isn't a Christian...but whatever), and it is NOT some sort of spiritual duty that we have. She is a human. She is a mother. She has seen hard times. She has feelings and a heart which can be hurt, broken, and bruised. If any of you is even THINKING about writing her a hate letter or whatever, I want you to think about how you would feel if you were in her shoes, and I want you to think about every bad thing you've done, AND every time you've been falsely accused of doing something wrong...then get down on your knees, and thank God Almighty for His mercy, 'cause it is because of THAT--not personal merit--that we all have the hope of seeing heaven someday.

Harry Potter=Wizard=Casting Spells=abomination to God and forbidden for us to be involved with

Harry Potter=World Best Seller aimed at Children = Most of the worlds child population exposed to casting Spells=children pursuing and getting involved with occult.

Satan is rubbing his hands in glee at how many Christians are arguing over the morality of a book which involves human witches and wizards based on earth in modern day.
