Okay, this got all over my nerves yesterday. Mike and I were heading to Charlotte for a conference, and we stopped at Ruby Tuesday's in Wytheville. I could not believe the waitress that served us. She was dressed like a hooker! Her skin tight black pants were cut really low, and her equally tight black t-shirt was so short, you count her ribs (almost). When she bent over to clear a table, my eyeballs almost rolled out of my head onto the floor. Look, I dress pretty casual around the house, but I would never go out in public dressed like that, especially to my work place, unless I was a hooker. Don't these kids learn about proper dress any more??

And I'm pretty sure she was flirting with Mike. She did NOT get a big tip from me!

Rant done.

Not unless their parents teach them...because I can tell you, if they are learning from whats in stores....their bound to dress trashy....Marnie I have a 9 yr old little girl...and I can't tell you how many times I've felt like pulling my hair out when its time to shop for her....98% of what I see, I feel is inappropriate....shes only 9, for goodness sake there is clothes hanging on her size rack that I would cringe to see on an adult....:blink:

I agree that many of our kids and even quite a few adults dress inappropriately.. however that stems from a bigger mindset of self image and "what the attention should be focused on" when I see myself in the mirror. As a man/woman of Christ.. the mindset of attention would ..should be on people seeing the Light of the World thru you.. so obviously the dress should be reflective of that. I don't believe you have to dress like a nun.. I do believe that the dress when one goes out in public should be reflective of who I represent. Not everyone represents Christ in their dress just as no everyone represents Christ in their day to day conversation. My Pastor once preached on being a person of excellence and how excellence should be seen in how you dress as well as in other areas and aspects of your life.. how you maintain your house, car.. etc. Many of the young women today don't get that revealing a lot "takes away from the mystery and surprise ". I believe that the Lord wants to do a new thing in our young people and even in our postmodern generation that thing that tight/ revealing is "in". True beauty is not in how much we reveal ... true beauty is revealed when when we allow the Lord reveal Himself within us. My prayer is that as a woman I can be a light on the hill to my younger sisters who feel that the only way someone will see their inner beauty is if they reveal a little more flesh, my prayer is that the Lord would reveal that He sees their beauty right where they are. I love the scripture that says that "You were fearfully and wonderfully made". How romantic is that!

I worry about this, too. My daughter is only 2, and it seems that even the clothing for 4 year olds is inappropriate. I think we as parents need to start rebelling; we can't let a degraded fashion industry dictate the appropriateness of what our kids where. By the time my daughter's 16, God only knows how far down we'll be. I shudder to think.

In this side of the sea, young girls are employed in resturant so that they can show off their bodies to men. I agree that parents have to take a stand when their children go shopping, however there are those that seem to don't care. Those who do not know the Lord as their Saviour, unfortunately these are the ones that show off a lot in the streets. Like the thread posted about Abstinence. How can this issue of morals be voiced to the public?

It's not just waitresses in restaurants or sunbathers on the beach.

I have seen very inappropriate dress on women in church. Of all places...

That's very sad, she either doesn't think very highly of herself [my first reaction] or she thinks too highly of herself [not as likely]. The poor dear. No proper example to show her the right way to present herself.

When girls as young as 6 are wearing g-strings their Mums have bought them, then we have real social problems developing. My sister is a day care centre assistant and the things she see's in the way of "fashion" for children under 10 is downright sensual...all approved by Mummy of course.

Basic learning comes from the home..if not there (and clearly it ain't), then we are in for more shocks ahead.

You know..it bothers me too when girls are dressed unmodestly...I just want to go up to them and tell them to go get clothes on....especially when a particular one comes to church that way who knows better....

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
