The trouble though is that she was considered a leader of sorts in the Christian community. Anyone in the spotlight, really, has a voice in the community that spotlights them. That's just the way it is. By this action, what is her voice saying to the Christian community?

Although I agree that we "worship" celebrities too much and that they do deserve their right to privacy, the message this sends saddens my heart.

I would argue that the "Gospel of Greed" promoted by Tammy Faye and Jim Baker and their extremely opulent lifestyle and materialism, sent a far worse message to the world about Christianity than Tammy Faye's later acceptance of the Gay and Lesbian Community did.

"For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature. And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet." (Romans 1:26-27)

"And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them." (Ephesians 5:11)

lol Yes, I agree.

My purpose in posting this lurid story, which is now of no value since the links were removed, was to point out the sorry state of the Church in America and our "Christian icons," who see no problem with supporting such an abomination.

I didn't mean to jump down your throat, forrest. It's been a frustrating day business-wise.

I am so used to you disagreeing with me that I did not recognize when you actually agreed with me. :emot-highfive:

I have mixed feelings about "Gay Churches", I certainly recognize that being an openly gay pastor is unbiblical, but I also see where gays and lesbians have been demonized and used as a political whipping post by many in the religious right in this country too, so I think that many of them do genuinely want a relationship with God and want to be part of a community of believers and for them, and thus from their perspective a gay church is their only option.

Many times on this forum gays and lesbians have been compared to pedophiles and those who engage in bestiality. If someone were gay or lesbian, what would you have them to do? Go to churches where members compare them to child rapists? Somewhere between churches comparing gays and lesbians to child rapists on one extreme and churches that have openly gay pastors on the other, is that level of common decency and humanity that could be a spiritual home and community for gays and lesbians in this country. Unfortunately, there are not a whole lot of churches in some parts of the country like that, so the only option for gays and lesbians is to join or form a church just for them.

Or repent?? :emot-highfive::emot-highfive:

Being spiritually reborn is kind of hard when church people constantly compare you to child molesters. Would you go to church a second time after the horrible first experience?

That's why I don't go to church. Not because I don't want to worship God, but because I don't want people wanting to perform an exorcism on me, comparing me to pedophiles, and basically treating me, as one member of this forum might say, like a shameful abomination.

And no, I don't live in "the lifestyle".

That's like giving up air because you smelled pollution. Church is to your spirit as air is to your body. Don't give up...the gates of Hades will not prevail against G-d's true Church.

Does "greater or less" matter? Is one deception sweeter than another?

Yes, their "Gospel of Greed" did cause damage - but they have both been punished severely for what they had done in front of the whole world. And they both knew this and confessed their sin. So bringing this up time and time again doesn't change the here and now.

Does God love people who are in sin? Yes.

Does He condone the sin? No.

Is He pleased with Christians excusing their sin and calling it something else? No.

And that goes for gossiping, cheating, lying, gluttony, alcoholism, greed, adultery, and any other sin that can be found in the church, as well as homosexuality.

That is all.

I don't know Tammy Faye's standing with the Lord.

I just think this gay pastor thing is sad.

And that is all I mean to say on the matter.

Yes, but the point is that if we want to bring people into the Church, then you got to clean up the pollution. If we compare gays to child rapists, then we deserve most of the blame for gays not coming to our churches.

No - I'm just getting an air purifying mask. I wouldn't give up air. That's just silly.

Is not the church for those who are "sick" and in need of help? If those who are mature go OUT and preach the message Jesus preached while on this earth, maybe the "city" would not be as sick as it is today...

Church is not about sitting in your Sunday's finest, shiniest car in the parking lot, best said statement, best show on the altar.....It's about reaching out to those who are lost.

If a gay man or woman walked into your church, would you kick them out? Would you preached them right out the door? Or would you love them enough so that the LIGHT of JESUS CHRIST shined so through YOU that --that is what made the difference for that gay man or woman to change their sinful life style...

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
