I guess that's all there is to say for now. I believe that Christians still wrestle with the flesh. And part of that battle is refusing to acknowledge sin.

Sexual sins aren't the only ones that we try to justify and/or deny.

Pride is one of the most insidious of sins. Difficult to see in oneself. And as tenacious as an octopus when one tries to disentangle oneself from it.

Mark 8

22

When they arrived at Bethsaida, they brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him.

23

He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. Putting spittle on his eyes he laid his hands on him and asked, "Do you see anything?"

24

Looking up he replied, "I see people looking like trees and walking."

25

Then he laid hands on his eyes a second time and he saw clearly; his sight was restored and he could see everything distinctly.

26

Then he sent him home and said, "Do not even go into the village."

For some it is a gradual process to come to fully understand who Jesus is, and what it means to follow Him.

Irrelvant to the topic

Not at all. You simply missed the relevancy.

Shalom,

You know, reading through some of these replies, I have to say that I understand where Fiosh is coming from. I mean, the Scriptures are clear, we are not to continue in sin.

HOWEVER, when someone gets saved, if they aren't immediately convicted of sin, or even know what conviction is, they may live in denial of the fact that are in sin! But, yes, they are saved, if they've truly given their heart to Jesus as Savior, but may have unknowingly being withholding areas of their lives from Him.

As they grow and mature in Him and are convicted of sin, they will give over these sins to Him and allow Him to cleanse them.

That is not how wrestling with the flesh is portrayed in Scripture. The spirit wars against the flesh and the flesh against the spirit.

The problem Fiosh is that you are refusing to look it biblically. You are trying to handle this emotionally and are not looking at it through the lense of Scripture. Christians do not refuse to acknowledge sin. The Christian war with sin amounts doing what is right in spite of the desire to do what is wrong, hence the war with the flesh is predicated on knowing what sin is in the first place.

A Chrstian's war with sin is not a denial sin of what sin is, but a denial of its control over one's life.

Nope, I have my Bibles and Concordance open in front of me as I type.

I think you may be forgetting Genesis 3. Satan is the prince of lies. And one of his best tricks is in convincing us that what we are told is sin......is not wrong.

He tries to blind us to our faults and uses our weaknesses against us.

Yes, emotion does enter into how I deal with people. Jesus felt emotion. I'm not ashamed that I do also. I have great compassion for those who have urges contrary to God's will yet try to follow Christ.

But that does not negate what I believe.

yes, but that does not address the issue of the born again spirit warring against the flesh. I would not war against something that I did not think was sin.

Rather what that Scripture demonstrates is the kind of lie that is believed by some of those who practice homosexuality; they claim to be Christian but also reject the portions of Scripture that clearly state that God considers homosexuality an abomination.

The first lie foisted on humanity was based upon challenging the integrity of God's word. It challenges God's authority as a moral lawgiver to define what sin is and is not.

Yes and because you are approaching this emotionally, you are failing to grasp the simple truth that I have not challenged the faith of those who still struggle with sin after being saved.

The issue I am challenging is those who do not see their homosexual lifestyle as sinful and believe that it can be condoned and practiced in complete harmony with biblical Christianity. They are the ones who are deceived. Perhaps if you suspended your emotions for bit, you could see that. As it stands, you are challenging on arguments that I have not raised.

It's not my emotions that are clouding the issue, its my memory. :noidea:

This discussion has gone on so long and in so many directions that I don't remember what the original argument was.

Can we recap?

Here's what I think we agree on:

1. Christians may continue to struggle with and even relapse into their sinful lifestyle and still be Christians, it they repent and make a sincere effort to overcome it.

Here's what we do not agree on:

1. People who deny that their lifestyle is sinful but say they follow Christ cannot be Christians.

Correct?

*********************************************************************

Shiloh: "I would not war against something that I did not think was sin. "

Obviously. And so you cannot see the subtle nature of the battle that continually wages.

************************************************************************

And perhaps, Shiloh, you need to develop some compassion.

Peace,

F

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
