well here's my take on it. i really know nothing of the woman. i skimmed through what she believes on her website this afternoon, and didn't see anything that raised any red flags. everything else i know about her has come from the gossip i read about her right here.

i'm quite sure she has sin in her life. whether it's greed, or materialism, or what-have-you. but ya know what? i have sin in my life too, and yet God manages to use me, despite myself. and ya know what else? God manages to use her, despite herself, too.

and God has taught me something through all this... He has taught me that He will use whom He will use, and it's not up to me to decide whether someone else is worthy enough to be used. nor is it up to me to judge the intent of her heart. i can only judge her fruit, and while there may be some sour apples that some of you may find, there's apparently plenty of good fruit as well.

while i can't say i thoroughly enjoyed listening to her (i really don't care for her voice, or the manner in which she speaks, and not even particularly how she dresses), i was blessed by the message she taught on that video tape, and i have no doubt that thousands of other women have been blessed by it as well.

i think we'd all do well to remember that what we're doing here is the equivalent of gossip, and that is as much a sin as her greed, if indeed she is greedy. and i don't know that she's greedy... she could just be incredibly blessed. i'll leave that up to God to judge and worry about my own sin.

:cool:Yes, the broad brushstroke of criticism of the Lord's anointed is painted with an ugly brush indeed.

ya know, i've been guilty of something and i'd like to confess.

i've had a very negative opinion of joyce meyer for years, because even though i'd never listened to her myself, i'd listened to what people here had to say about her... and i JUDGED her, accordingly.

last week i watched a video of one of her conferences, and i was BLESSED by it. and i LEARNED from it. the subject was control freaks.... either being a control freak and hurting those around you, or being such a wuss that you let yourself be a doormat for a control freak in your life. and the overall message she gave was to stand up and be a woman of God, and allow Him to be in control.

i wonder how many people buy into the gossip they hear on worthyboards about her, and develop a hateful attitude towards her because of it? i know i've been guilty. and yet even up until this moment, even as i type this out, it never occurred to me to repent for my attitude.

i think i'll go do that now. have a nice day, everyone.

Wow, this is something I've been beating myself up over all day. How listening to gossip can destroy a person.

I hurt a friend very badly a long time ago over an issue that everyone believed to be true. It still eats away at me today, the way I treated that person, even just the way I thought about that person. Whether gossip is true or not, Jesus was right, we need to pay attention to our own lives and for good reason. Gossip not only destroys the one being gossiped about it destroys the ones doing the gossiping. They become consumed blindly by hatred. I was consumed by this at one time, it is horrible to think back on, like being under the grip of satan. It destroys like a wildfire.

Better to not think at all about a person than to think low of them. I pray for healing in this area, too.

Hiya all,

Just sharing what a Pastor Manning is petitioning Joyce Meyer to. This is different, he petitions Joyce Meyer live, see above, not to hold one of her annual conferences for woman but to help women's shelters instead. I don't know of Pastor Manning but perhaps some of you saints in America know of him.

Just thought it was interesting and different from the usual things I read about televangelists.

Cajunboy::::I guess it's no secret that I admire Joyce Meyer and all she and her ministry has done for so many, but I really have to ask this dumb question.......If Mr Manning is so adamant and interested in assisting "women't shelters" why don't he begin making the effort instead of trying to deface someone who has different ideas and is trying to reach a more broad spectrum of audiance. Also have to wonder if He thought about the fact that of the many women Joyce attempts to reach, teach and preach to, if she might be aiding in "saving" many more from becoming or necessitating "shelters?" Just a thought!

I would propose the same challange to P. Manning that he challanged to Joyce Meyer's Ministry!

Blessings

Cajunboy

I think anyone that has ever so much as glanced at scripture can conclude that God does not lead nor bless the leaders of ministries with greed and materialism. Greed and materialism are sins, not blessings, not callings, they are sins. Jesus was not nailed to the cross for slick talking "evangelists" to live opulent lifestyles.

Her ministry spent $4 million from 1999 to 2003 on five homes for the Meyer family. The ministry pays for all utilities, maintenance and landscaping costs. Joyce and Dave live in a large, $2 million, 10,000 square-foot property with a large fountain, gazebo, private putting green, pool, poolhouse and an independently cooled garage. Meyer told the Post-Dispatch that with her being on the road most of the time, she doesn't have time to take care of maintenance issues herself. The Post-Dispatch retracted the statement that the ministries pay for all utilities and maintenance and landscaping costs.[3]

The Meyers bought several items in the early 21st century that are held by an irrevocable trust in order to guard against financial problems in the ministry. Among them are a $500,000 lakefront home on Lake of the Ozarks, a $107,000 Mercedes for Dave Meyer, and a $130,000 house for Joyce's parents.

http://www.stltoday.com/joycemeyer

When God blesses His servants, He does it well! There is nothing sinful in the wealth that He can bring to some of His obedient, anointed ones.

God did not bless her with greed and materialism. Those are sins. She chose to live such a life on the backs of believers. The ministry is not a profession that people should enter into to get rich. People in the ministry have a hard job and should compensated accordingly, but if if you want to get rich and live a life of greed and materialism, do not use Christianity to do so, there are plenty of careers out there for you other than the ministry.

Think about it, if I am not mistaken, we pay the President of the United States 200,000 dollars a year. We pay an Army Captain 54,000 dollars a year. The Pope does not even take a salary. I think its safe to say that no Christian minister should be compensated more than the leader of the free world. What would someone think if they found out the president of the Charity they were contributing to had 5 homes, lived in a 10,000 square foot home, and bought their son a $107,000 car. People would be calling for that president to step down. They would not give that charity another dime. They would probably be looking into prosecuting them if it was at all possible. Why would we have different standards for a charitable organization than what we would have for a Christian Minister?

I agree 100%

From what Scripture says when we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, WE ARE ALL ANOINTED AS SAINTS OF HIS. Not just pastors but ALL. God is no respector of persons. Amen :21:

I can't help but agree with you, forrestkc.

Here's why:

The Lord has led me out of a lot of things from my past. I've learned a lot in the process. Your post got me thinking (a dangerous thing! )

I've heard Joyce Meyer, and have enjoyed her messages. The Lord always blesses His word, and He promised that it would never come back to Him void. That said, I have to admit that I don't support her ministry any longer because I find the financial excess disturbing. While Scripture doesn't condemn wealth, or enjoying the fruits of your labors, its pretty clear that we are supposed to use that wealth that God gives us to help others. Jesus said "take up the cross, deny yourself, and follow Me."

I understand the need for housing, food, utilities. I lived on the street for some time. I just have a really big problem with someone running a ministry or charity of any kind that's living so "high on the hog" as it were. A $100,000 car? Why? You can still get something reliable for $20,000 or less brand new! There are people in this world who would love to be able to afford an old rust-bucket of a car. A million-plus dollar house, 10,000 square feet? Why? Living in a decent, reasonably priced house would save an awful lot of money, and leave more for helping others. Maybe I "don't understand." I don't know, but I can't see Jesus living like that. Can't see the apostle Paul living that way, either, and look how his ministry turned out!

Sorry if I got carried away, but having been in that place where I lived "high on the hog" in the semiconductor industry and loosing everything changes the way you see things. Until all that happened I was happy with the whole "suburban" life-style thing. Then I met someone - Jesus, and He changed a lot of my ways of thinking about things.

Amen. When Jesus comes into our life and we are sealed by the Holy Spirit as His children then the Holy Spirit who is our Teacher, He will guide us into all truth.

One of my prayers is that people who say they love the Lord Jesus and serve Him will defend Him and His Name instead of the arm of flesh.

We are also told to watch out for "wolves in sheeps clothing" so trying to use all this guilt to make people not say what they believe about someone's teaching by the fruit they show the world, is just as wrong. Evidently alot of people think she is wonderful, but her fruit shows greed and materialism. So ya'll just keep on with the trying to shame people into shutting up, and I'm sure you'll succeed with some, but if I'm wrong in what I'm saying the Lord will show me, or I will pay for it when it comes time for the Lord to judge me.....................if I'm right, we'll I shouldn't be shut up by you or anybody else. The Lord Jesus didn't have a thing, neither did the Apostles.........but somehow its okay for those that are supposed to be Preachers of the Gospel to hoard up treasures on earth.......

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
