I picked this forum because it said it was nondenominational. I hate labels, other than "Christian", "God's child", "saved" etc.

I believe Jesus is Lord and I believe the voice of God and God's many truths can be found in the Bible's 66 books, as well as some books that were not chosen to be put in the canonical collection, including commentaries written by inspired men of God.

Cajunboy::::Gosh NONE ! If I thought anyone would have been insulted I never would have asked. I am curious though to understand why one would feel like being "labeled" fundimentalist would be a negative? Personally, I think it's a nice compliment for someone to consider me a "fundimentalist." All their really saying is that I hold the old truths of the Bible deep in my heart and mind to the extent that I live them. Though, I have been on some forums in past years where secular individuals try to use it as a "slang" or sing of an insult. I'm inclined to believe that no matter what the word was not in or vocabulary, they would still find fault in we "Christians" with some other word to get their discontent out. No worries! By the way, if you're referring to the term fundimentalist being a denomination.....I'm quite sure it's not! Thanks for the input however.

Blessings

Thank you, I Googled the term before I posted that I wasn't one(just to be sure).

Here's a question if were defining Fundimentalist:

How far does one have to carry "Literal Interpretation" to qualify as a Fundi (or Funnymentalist as I like to call myself)

I go to a Church of God church nowadays. One of the doctrines they "literally interperate" is the Foot washing ceremony found in Luke (I think it's look). I never interperted it literally but symboliclly. Am I still a Fundi?

The Bible says "Women will stay silent in the church", I don't interperate that as females can't be worship leaders (I know some that do...not trying to start a debate on this) but the question remains...am I still a Fundi?

Now on Creation & the Flood I believe they are historical events, so am I a Semi-Fundi or what? :emot-hug:

We are not commanded to do foot washings. That was a custom in Bible days. When Jesus washed the disciples feet, he was giving them a lesson on being a servant to others. When the Bible says women are to keep silent, it means they are not to be disruptive. All you seem to be telling me is that you don't interpret the Bible to require foot washings and don't interpret it to say women must be completely quiet in church. Those are interpretations, but you still believe the Bible is the innerant Word of God, so in my mind, you are a fundamentalist.

:24: YES!!!!!! I AM A FUNNYMENTALIST

Wow. I like your answer Butero. So what you are saying is that a fundamentalist is the one who believes the foot washing actually happened. Now that is the way I used to think defined literalism and fundamentalism. And then I kept hearing people who would say that it meant we had to follow the foot washing just like it occured. It sort of threw exegism and contextual interpretation out the window. And that wasn't anything I wanted to be associated with. Now there are people who define it that way still and add certain traditional beliefs to it. But I'm glad to hear that there are those who can stick to the actual meaning of fundamentalism as it was originally.

I consider myself a fundamentalist. I do think that we could be

more fun loving...I find (other than this board) most have

no funny bone, and I think that causes a wrong picture of

fundamentalist. Not all fun mind you, but more willing to be

tolerant, and not press every issue. (only the ones that make

a difference in salvation, or wrong ideas that we might change.)

I hope I have said what I am trying to say right...lol

Cajunboy::::That's correct ! Nor are we expected to sacrafice animals for our sins. But you will probably note that for each item that we are no longer obligated to do, there are just as many restrictions that are entact. You might have to refer to the beginning of Jesus' dicipleship to see where I'm going with this. Just to clear a little confusion here, to a "liberalist" you and I might be considered "fundamentalist" because we adhere to God's Laws and the scripts of the Bible (His Holy Word.) If you begin to disect what we do and don't do, many times you will only begin to unveil how even Christians of different denominations differ from verse to verse. and that could be just as troublesome.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
