Why the Garden?

This verse comes to mind

Colossians 1:16-17--"For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him AND FOR HIM. And he is before all things and by him all things consist."

Acts 17:28a--"For in him we live and move and have our being......."

It's almost like God used the garden to teach man about the offspring of things so that we would understand later on about being the offsping of God his children being made possible by Jesus Christ. Who was the root and offspring of Jesse as a seed must fall to the ground and die before it is resurrected.

The Bible does not directly tell us God's motives for choosing the garden as the initial envornment for His creation. Anything we say would be speculation

I know -

But has anyone ever thought to consider - why the Lord plant a garden and put a man in there to tend it?

No, we'll never really find the answer.

But if you really think about it - it does make you wonder that there's a lot we don't know about our early history. I'm sure there is a reason that information wasn't passed down.

But doesn't it just make you wonder?

Sometimes you can learn more form a question than the answer, if you know what I mean (or maybe only philosophically minded people can appreciate that?).

OK, here's another.

Gen 2 - 19 Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field.

We always read this as Adam's naming of the animals as, "You're a dog, you're a cat, you're a horse, ...."

But what if the Lord was bringing the animals to him as pets, and he was to give them personal names: "You're Fido, you're Socks, you're Lightning Strike, ....."

OK, here's another.

I just saw this just now and I sorta take it that on that 6th day as God was creating all the beast of the field, the birds of the air, and the cattle. That as God created each individual kind of animals and birds and beast of the field he brought them to Adam to let him name them as each kind was being created from the dust of the ground. Adam could have even seen the Lord create each particular kind of these created beings. But this is just a thought and your question is thought provoking none the less.

I think this the greatest quote on this board. People all ways add to the whats not in there. They should read the rev 24.

Before Adam ate the fruit were does it say that he would live for ever? Why did we think he would have lived forever?

We have to understand that there was also another tree a tree of life

"And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever"

Why would there also be a tree of life in the garden if they were made to live forever?

"But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die"

Lets read what it says in that day, not tomorrow or years later but that day, they would die.

"But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it,

lest ye die"

The devil didn't lie but tempted eve telling her that she will be like the gods she wanted this knowledge and saw the tree was good for food. The devil knew the nature of flesh so he knew that she would eat.

lets see what the devil said:

"And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

"For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."

Did the devil lie or did he tell the truth? He told her what they shouldn't have known.

God confirms this:

"And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever.

Adam didn't die that day but later as flesh was made to do. The bible says the flesh can't return to the kingdom only the soul. Adam had an everlasting soul not a body. If he ate of the tree of life he would have lived forever but he was kicked out so he wouldn't
