What does the bible say about the Holy Spirit? I still haven't read the whole bible but I'm working on it everyday.

But at what point do we feel the Holy Spirit? When we are doing something wrong and God is calling us out in it? When we are doing something right and God is telling us we've made the right decision? I feel the Holy Spirit obviously when I'm worshiping or praising. Also when I'm witnessing but my question is in regards to when were right or wrong. let me give you an example:

My brother has totaled 5 cars. He drives like a manic. Luckily, he hasn't hurt anyone or himself. Or actually, God through our prayers have saved his neck!!! He asked me to lend him my car to pick up a friend and I turned him down. I told him please don't ask me because I hate saying no to you but I really need my car! He was upset but didn't say anything and said something that made me feel guilty for not helping. I'm a single mother.... I NEED my car. Anything else that he asks help for, I'm in. i just don't lend him my car. Well when I was explaining to him to please not ask because I couldn't say yes, I was feeling the Holy Spirit. Was I wrong in saying no? Or right??? :emot-highfive:

As Christians we are supposed to help others with daily needs. This does not mean we are under obligation to enable anyone to continue a dangerous or destructive habit, like the crazy driving you mentioned. The Lord provided you with the car, and I believe He expects us to take care of the things He allows us to have. We are stewards after all.

The Lord led me out of a life of drugs and taking advantage of others. I say this because one reason your brother was giving you the "silent treatment" is that you said no. Keep saying no. Since he has a known track record for wrecking cars and dangerous driving this is exactly the right thing to do! You said it yourself, you are a single mother and have responsibilities to your kids and your job. You might consider giving him a ride somewhere, but don't let him have the use of the vehicle unless you are the one driving.

God also gave you a neat little thing called a conscience. If you violate your conscience you are sinning. If you do something that your conscience tells you not to do, you are sinning. It's Gods early warning system... :)

"The pause" hmmm... nice! I did tell him I'd give him a ride a little later. So you think maybe I was feeling the spirit because I was doing the right thing by telling him no? I believe this was why because he was telling me don't do it!!!

:whistling: I hope this is not taken the wrong way. I do not know how to say this...God has given us brains and wisdom... this is something I would not even think about befor saying no...What if he used your car and died in it... BOUNDRIES DO HAVE TO BE SET. Saying no is not a bad thing. and we are not to be used as mats either. Cast not your pearls before swine... and I do not mean your brother is a pig. Everything you own belongs to Jesus and you are the caretaker of what he has given you. My younger sister use to give me a hard time...Then I told her to argue with God not me. It sounds harsh..but even the talent to work to save money.to own a car came from Jesus .. It has taken me a long time to say no to people. They will abuse what is not thiers and give satan that opportunity and forget it.... patricia ( how is everything?)

Thanks Patricia for you reply but that wasn't really my question. I know everything you said to be true. I was asking about the Holy Spirit. When do we feel it? Like, I sometimes feel it when I'm talking to people and Im not necessarily talking about Christ nor am I doing something wrong. What I mean is,... I just feel the Holy Spirit sometimes out of no where. No specific pattern or anything... thats my question.... does anybody have any insight into this???

I was using my brothers situation as an example as I clearly stated on my original post.

The Spirit speaks to each of us differently, depending on where we are in our walk with Christ. I think everyone's experience is different when it come to that. In Scripture, its said the He is the "still, small voice" (1 Kings 19:11-13).

I've had things happen like you describe. Out of "nowhere" as you put it. In my case it was usually related to something I was doing at the time. I spent a lot of time on the road, and once during a nasty storm in Texas, I got a sense that I needed to stop. I didn't understand it, but I stopped at a small truck stop and had a cup of coffee. The sense of needed to stop left after 20 minutes or so, so I headed out. 10 miles down the state highway, a bridge had washed out due to all the rain. No one ran off the edge, but it was a near thing from what one of the troopers told me. If I hadn't stopped when I did, I might have gone over the edge. I've never forgotten that.

The best description I can give you is when you are reading the Bible, and suddenly a verse you might have read many times before "lights up" and you see something in the Word that you never saw quite in that specific way before. That's the Holy Spirit doing His job -- showing us the things of Christ as we spend time in the Word and in prayer.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
