It's my home.

You attack my home - you attack me.

You attack me, I feel provoked to defend myself.

Especially if you are praying for the destruction of a city that's just a half hours drive away. Yeah, that's how close I live to D.C.

Do you have any idea what 9-11 was like for us here?

I could have lost friends and/or loved ones that day.

I live under the flight path of a major airport. Do you have any idea how many months it took before I stopped feeling freaked everytime a plane flew overhead?

Wicked government? Any more wicked than all others? At least our government doesn't murder, imprison, rape, and torture people of other religions like the Islamic nations do.

You want to fight for the Kingdom of God? This isn't the way to do it. Your tactics are only stirring up hatred and dissention this way. As it is said, better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.

You want to fight evil? Preach the Gospel, give to the poor and needy, support missionaries or be a missionary yourself. Battle the "powers and principalities and rulers of darkness in the heavenly realm," and not "flesh and blood."

There are men and women in the Mid-East who are sending themselves to Hell because they believe that killing themselves for Allah will give them a straight shot to Heaven. Doesn't that burden your heart?

Part of my reason for starting the prayer thread was because I thought we'd be doing the Kingdom of God a whole lot better if we started praying for the salvation in Jesus of these people and stuff like that than to waste our time arguing all this political mish-mash.

Fine - Smasher - you want to pray the destruction of my country. Fine. You don't care if the bomb that wipes out D.C. takes out my home, my family, my friends, or me - fine.

If it makes you feel superior to be wasting your time condemning the sins of others - fine. You want to believe that military might is a worse sin than sexual immorality - fine. You want to be more upset that the descendents of Isaac or under more of a curse for forsaking their God than the descendents of Ishmael are for following a false god - fine. You think that proving that this country is the greatest evil to walk this planet is more important than preaching good news, healing the brokenhearted, binding the wounded, and all that - fine.

I'm grabbing my cloak and shaking the dust off my feet. God grant me the strength to not let my curiosity draw me back to this forum of hate.

You're making it sound like I am supposed to be getting more warlike, judgemental, intolerant and vengeful. Or maybe you just mean I should be more selective about who I feel forgiveness and compassion for. Sorry, can't do it, it's not in my new born again nature.

But you ARE selective about your "forgiveness." You spend plenty of time visiting your perfectionism on those of who are againts the evil off terrorism, and spend no time condemning the terrorists. Your position would acutally be respectable if it weren't for your lopsided application of "pacifism."

No, I'll leave that to those that equate love of God with love of country. I try to be humble. Every time I get too proud, God knocks me down, which is a good thing.

WIP, I served my 8 years and got an honorable discharge. -- I'll say one thing for you. You have that fundamentalist attitude down pat. Haha!

[edited to add] At least your son is in the Navy. That should give him a little more protection than a Army guy on the ground. I still live near an AF base. Many of the troops are starting to "wake up" and they're NOT happy.

btw - I am American. My family has been here since before the revolutionary war as far as we know. Lady C, why don't you want non-Americans posting here? What if they are telling the truth on some things? Wouldn't you want to know?

perhaps you should re-read what i wrote. i never said i didn't want non-americans posting here. i said i wish there was a law preventing non-americans for posting contentions topics for the sole purpose of bashing our country.

big difference.

So, if something is posted about our country that is negative, how do you determine if it was posted to "bash" or "inform"? Isn't that subjective to a point?

Personally I think we probably have too many laws as it is. I sure don't want a law infringing on information exchange. That's what communists do.

It's quite an arrogant position really....

I'll take her kind of arrogance over some others posting here any day!

it's all wrong.

Mine, hers, yours....

If we could keep this focused on a biblical level without the corruption of politics, I think we could either;

A) find common ground

B) expose the REAL errors of our judgements

I have become convinced that you and OA only know a couple of verses...and you use them out of context. The Jesus you know is not the Jesus of the Bible.

"Love thy neighbor" and "Thou Shall not murder" are much broader than the limited useage of a pacifist and the anti-American agenda.

Would you like an example from the Bible? Would you even listen and consider that there is another side to the coin?

Honestly, I don't think you care what God has to say on this subject.

But I'm willing to try and reason with you on a scriptural level if we can use the WHOLE word of God instead of a passage or two which forces a contradiction of scripture.

Shall we?

charlie, perhaps you just haven't been reading as many of idolsmasher's posts as the rest of us have. nothing personal against smasher, he's a nice fellow when he's not bashing americans, our government, etc. but this attitude:

Everybody knows how wicked and corrupt America is. My question is more about why do Christians feel such stong allegiance to a wicked government to where they think anybody who doesn't want to die fighting for said wicked country is a traitor, deserter, coward, etc. I can only assume there is a lot of false teaching that fans the fires of worldy patriotism and nationalism. My beef isn't just with the worldly government but also with the Christians that defend it's worldliness and wickedness with evangelistic ferver.

is one that he has made abundantly clear over and over and over and over and over and over and... need i go on, or do you get the point yet?

the nice fellow underneath his judgemental bashing is hard to recognize sometimes. and personally, i'm very tired of it. despite repeated requests that he find something positive to say, or say nothing, he continues to START topics for the purpose of flaming.

so if you, charlie, would like to continue reading something sinister int my words, and target me with your comments, feel free. but i will no longer respond to someone who implies that my comments were communistic.

My son is not in the Navy. He is in the Marine Corps.

I make no apologies for my love of country, even if some try to twist it as being put above God Himself to further their pacifist philosophies. God established my country, God is still at the root of my country (though a part of society is trying to change that) and God blesses love of country, (God has caused wars on whole societies over land and people in Scripture) so that's all I need.

Thank you for your service, I have a respect for military personnel, but if your idea of "right" is going AWOL when commanded to do something distasteful, I would not want you serving alongside my son and endangering his life further.

"Fundamentalist"? Hmmm. Yeah, that would be accurate. Tradionalist. I believe in the fundamentals taught in the Scriptures, that never change as time goes by.

Lady C, why don't you want non-Americans posting here?

And with that, you lose all credibility. Please be so honest as to not twist words around to suit yourself. She said

non-americans from posting contentious topics for the sole purpose of bashing our country.
You completely twisted that into "she doesn't want non-Americans posting on this board) Like 'fundamentalism', honesty is a good thing. :D

God Bless you, Neb.

Yod, you are so right. I'm not sure which are worse - the ones who don't try to hide their hatred, or the ones who use the passive/aggressive route and hide it behind self righteous 'christianity'. Good luck brother.

Everybody knows how wicked and corrupt America is.

Those of you who are so anti-American should take your ridiculous conspiracy theories about oil, your hatred for our America and its brave service personnel, and go post on a Communist Board where your comments would be more welcome and more in line with their way of thinking.

No, that wouldn't be any fun, Shiloh. It's way more fun to go to a place where you are only one of a handful of dissenters and stir things up and watch it all fly. How very Christian.

I like your suggestion, and for the convenience of our christian brothers and sisters who wish to discuss the wickedness of America, her people and her policies, I've offered a direct link to the democratic underground. It's a very rabid site and can be very hateful. Oh, btw, it also practices censorship. Before you get to the forums, be sure to read the rules, you are told that if you have a differing opinion, you are banned. Period. Unlike the gracious hosts of these Christian forums, where one is allowed to be so ungracious as to come in with the sole purpose of dissent and strife.

Have fun here.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
