My wife wears a covering.......Me.

I have a pony tail//........no big deal because we have no set custom. God is not a God a of confussion and he doesn't contridict himself. There were prophets with long hair and some with no hair.

If ya feel the need to wear a covering before your married then do what you do by faith. Some feel eating pork is a sin yet others do not. We must do or not do everything by faith.

In his love,

Brian

Wow, this thread has been inactive for a while... :(

I am a "baby" Christian of almost 8 months, and I am convicted to wear a headcovering while praying. I also often wear one outside of prayer.

Now I've been a Christian for 9 years and NEVER felt any conviction or any kind of leading to wear a head covering.

I have had a ton of conviction about loving people and showing kindness and helping the poor and needy...Those kinds of things I've felt a considerable amount of 'leading' for....but never about head coverings.

I think the issue is the condition of a person's heart and not their external appearance...

Naturally, I'm not saying they should dress inappropriately or clad like Brittney Spears...but we are not compelled to look like Arab Muslim's and wear Hajibs either.

It seems like legalism to me...when we really have so many more pressing needs in the area of Christian maturity, such as trusting God and stepping out on faith to help others and similiar important spiritual growth concerns.

gypc: Thanks for that post...that really does spell it out nicely...

When I was single, I felt Jesus was my covering and that was sufficient for me.

I do believe that this is more of a cultural issue than anything else.

Trivia: Many people don't know why some Arabic women began wearing burkas.

It's NOT what most people think. Originally, women in Afghanistan wore burkas to cover their faces during sandstorms. It keep the sand out of their eyes.

Later on, it became a religious practice as opposed to a rational solution to dust and sand storms.

Why then does the Bible in 1 Corinthians I believe it is say that it is a shame for a man to have long hair? BTW how do you know about prophets hair?

Gypc: I hear you!

God'slove: That's easy to answer: Go and check out the word, "Nazerites"...They were consecrated unto God and never cut their hair; according to the requirements of God. Read all of the Book of Numbers and you'll find a ton of information on requirements for Nazerites.

These were people set aside for special purposes by God; there were other restrictions: they could never drink wine or partake of the grape (juice, wine, raisins or fresh grapes) and I believe there were other requirements as well, I can't recall them off hand.

Nazerites were male and female alike, as I understood it. They were consecrated as a Nazerite from birth.

Samson was a Nazerite

Since we aren't all that familiar with Jewish culture, I would say that if you consider traditional Jews today, males keep their hair short but maintain these cute little curly cues on the sides of their heads....It's a 'cultural thing'.

If you feel better wearing head thingys, by all means...go for it..

I don't. Considering how legalistic the Muslim's are and how Satan loves legalism because it takes one's eyes off of the "reason" things are and focus on the ritual itself...(remember the religious Pharisees?) - when legalism raises it's ugly head, I know the source of it.

God is concerned with our heart attitude. The religious Pharisees were so caught up in outward appearances, their hearts were utterly corrupted.

That's what will happen to us if we don't take a lesson.

I agree catsmeow! All this "stuff" takes our focus off winning souls. :)

2 Corinthians 10:7

Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? if any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's

John 7:24

Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
