As the population grows, things have to change. We're taking over the land with concrete and roads. Animals are moving into the towns because of over crowding.

I don't know anything about global warming or its causes. However, I want to be a good steward of this land for a couple of reasons. Mainly, because I think it's absolutely beautiful. I am continually amazed by the wondrous things God created, from the flora to the landscapes to the thousands of species of critters. Totally and absolutely amazing. Another reason is because I feel like God cares about it too. He made it. He created it out of nothing and gave it color and texture and smells and even personalites. He made it all interactive. It has a purpose to be here and a need to be here, and we need it here.

I guess the last reason is because I want my grandsons to enjoy what I have known. So many things are disappearing already. I worry about the elephants that are being poached to extinction. I worry about the magnificient giraff that are running out of living space. I worry about the monarch butterflies. I want it all here for the kids. All of it.

And I want them someday to be able to travel and see the beautiful landscapes. Niagra Falls. Yellowstone. The Tetons. God created a beautiful place for us. It's sad to see it suffer. There may not be anything we can do for it, may not be a lot of time left for it - but what time is left - I wish it glory.

One of my favorite CD's, The City of Gold, contains a poem as told by Adrian Plass. It follows along the storyline of Pilgrims Progress. In it, he asks the Lord to forgive him for being reluctant to leave this earth, for, "it's all I know." That's how I feel. This is my home, and it's all I know.

We are to live simply (I did not quote the scripture on this one, but there are hundreds of references to this in scripture).

You mean like....without....computers?

You don't have to be so mean spirited in your responses.

I wasn't trying to be. I thought I was being humorous.

I do not believe that an OP/Ed in the National Post carries nearly the same weight as an article in The New Scientist.

I would suggest you give an opinion on the article, not where it was printed.

forrestkc, my point is: Why do you keep bringing global warming up? I doubt you are going to convert anyone to your side who wasn't already. Quit beating a dead horse.

I have found reading this thread extremely disturbing.

Me too but for different reasons. My hope isn't in man.

It is arrogant to think we have any control over this planet. If everyone became as obsessive as forrest is, we'd make no impact in time for the alarmist scenarios we've been presented by psuedo scientists. There have been scientists who refute the exaggerations of Gore. I don't think anyone really knows the future and my hope is not in science either.

forrest has been wrong on many occasions

Wrong about what?

Do I really need to recount it for you? :emot-nod:

hmmm...well...the first one that comes to mind is that we should just pull out of Iraq because the "surge" wasn't going to work. It was only going to cause more death and civil war was the only result we could expect. No one wants America there, blah, blah, blah...

yet you don't have a comment when the news in Iraq is good and the surge has reduced the violence by more than half in just a couple of months.

Don't you remember that? And yet then there is the abortion debate where killing an innocent baby before its born is somehow justifiable. Yeah...let's save the rainforest and the insects...but killing babies is OK.

Almost every side of every debate you've started is on the wrong side of what the Holy Spirit would support. This is just another example where you've sided with those who worship the creation instead of the Creator.

I've never heard a christian say, "let's pollute as much as possible and make nature a wasteland" yet that is what you imply with this "SAVE THE WORLD FROM EVERYONE WHO DOESN'T DRIVE AN ELECTRIC CAR" hysteria.

Ok, I think what you are saying is that this could very well be a sign of the end times. (please correct me if I am wrong). That may be the case, but more than likely it is not. Every generation since the dawn of Christianity has looked at current events and sought to fit them around biblical prophecy. Thus far, every generation that has done so has been wrong.

there is a danger in making scenarios fit into eschatological views, I will agree. Yet never before in the history of the world has Jerusalem become a "burdensome stone" around the neck of all the nations. Never before was there an Israel and a union of ALL the nations coming against them like today. Is this the end-times spoken of by the Prophets? Maybe not...but it sure could be.

If it is, someone will be right about it being the end of days....

I'd say that the signs of the times are evident like never before...and one of those signs is birth pangs in the form of natural catastrophes and worldwide environmental upheaval...just as we are seeing and discussing in this thread.

Question: What is the purpose of the surge? Answer: To lessen the level of violence in order to bring about political reconciliation in Iraq. Question: How much political reconciliation has been made in the Iraq since the surge began? Answer: Zero. In fact as the Sunnis have largely pulled out of the central government, the political situation in Iraq has actually deteriorated over the last several months.

And yet then there is the abortion debate where killing an innocent baby before its born is somehow justifiable. Yeah...let's save the rainforest and the insects...but killing babies is OK.

When did I ever say that abortion is great and all should go out and get them? Never. I simply have a different opinion that you do as to how to reduce the number of them.

Almost every side of every debate you've started is on the wrong side of what the Holy Spirit would support. This is just another example where you've sided with those who worship the creation instead of the Creator.

I was unaware that God appointed you as his official spokesman. Congratulations on landing that job.

No, I take issue with this notion that we can disregard the environment because God is in charge and he won

I've asked this before.

But if we don't know why the global temperature has risen and fallen in the past, how can we know for sure that the climate change going on now is not occuring for the same reason(s) it has before?

We do know what caused past climate changes. Most of them resulted from orbital variations with CO2 acting as an amplifier.

The New Scientist has a great set of articles that would probably answer all of your questions on this.

The world agrees with you? I don't think that I'd be so proud of that, bro

James 4:4

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Again...you are siding with people who worship the creation while rejecting the Creator.

No one here is "for" destroying the environment so why the high horse? Because we don't obsess about it enough for you?

You place more value on the environment than a child....you refuse to admit that any progress has been made in Iraq...you think Al Gore is completely honest with purely noble motives....and the world loves you.

Is that your definition of christian virtue?

I cannot believe the bullying going on.

You all claim to be Christians.

I see someone interested in making a difference with the environment. He is not even asking you to change your lifestyle but to educate yourselves.

And all you can do is go run and hide behind your Bibles and throw stones. Great fun, great progress.

I am truly rethinking this foolish idea that one is saved by grace alone. It is much too easy to think that once one is saved it doesn't matter what one does after so lets laugh at the poor misguided ones and insult them.

Have fun waiting for the return of Christ!

Please don't bother commenting this post as it is my second and last one.

Your lack of education is frightening.

Warning -warning -warning. I reckon you guys don't care about the the warnings.

I'm closing this thread to give you time to cool off.

Seriously people, look at this board. All over this board members are spewing venom. You don't have to like each other - you don't have to agree on topics - you don't have to have the same opinions - but you are instructed to love one another. Not by me - by Jesus.

And I have to say - right now - your salt isn't too salty.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
